Hi gang,

I've got some swirl marks in the S2000. The zymol stuff that I use, good as it is, isn't at alll abrasive, and won't touch them.

I've considered buying a Porter Cable random orbital polisher, but I'm a little afraid of those things. In the event that I decide to farm this out, can anyone recommend a **good** detail shop?

Durham / Chapel Hill is preferred, but I'll travel for the right place.

Cost isn't much of a concern here. I'm far more concerned with having them get it right. LMK if you know anyone...

Believe it or not, I'm looking for the same thing. Considering I live about 3 minutes from Karl, if it is convenient to him, it is convenient to me. I've seen a lot of places that advertise that they will come to you but I haven't seen any first-hand recommendations.

Gotta get the CRX shined up before it goes on EBay...

If the issues don't reach too deep such that "normal" detailing will take care of them, I would recommend Ken Stark, http://www.detailguru.com/. Ken is a fantastic guy, and he comes to you with his truck. He will do a full inside and out detail for an excellent price. Highly recommended. (919) 616-2731

My son got a used 2001 S4 last year, and it was in need of a lot of TLC inside and out. Ken resurrected that car, and it looked awesome when he was done. Since that time, I've had him do all 4 of my cars with excellent results.

I'll be darned. Chuck I'd found a link to detailguru.com through the waxers section of one of the S2000 forums.

Do you remember what he charges to go over a whole car?

Karl,

I'm getting ready to have Ken come and do some work, but the last time I used him was late last year. He charges based on the specific job. I recall him charging about 130 or so for our old 850R wagon which was in dire need. Given the time and effort he expended on that car, I paid him an extra $20 tip. Give him a call and get an estimate for your car.

Chuck

I've been using Ken for about 3 years now. He's mobile and does my car at work. Very convenient, and good prices too. Found him detailing, of all things, a Z06 at work. Starting using him after driving over fresh paving and getting tar all over my car and wheel wells. Had to let it sit and harden for weeks before I had time to do anything about it. He did a very good job. He has reasonable prices for washing/waxing products. Detailguru.com

I think he charged me $130 for myVolvo XC70 wagon, and charges a little less for my STi.

Wow. I'd happily pay $130 okus a $20 tip to have a pro go over the whole thing - especially if he'll come to me! I can't imagine an S2000 costing any more than a Volvo, being that it's such a small car and doesn't have a roof to deal with either.

I'll be calling him next week. Tomorrow isn't enough notice of course and Friday I have to get ready for Rockingham, but for sure I'll be trying this guy out.

If he comes to your work...how does he get water?

Well here's an update. I had Ken come out and go over the S2000 this morning. All I can say is...wow! It looks absolutely stunning. The reflectivity of the paint is incredible. And he's very thorough - he cleaned out the inside of the (concealed) cupholders!

I'll definitely be using this guy again. $130 to go over the whole car, inside and out, including treating the leather, is worth it to me, especially since I can't get it looking anywhere near this good even in a full weekend of work.

I just had Ken Stark clean up the Type-R today and I have to echo everybody else's sentiments. The guy is a wizard! Some of the cone marks on the car had to be 2 years old and he was able to remove everything that didn't get into the paint. The car looks so good I'm almost going to feel guilty marking it up again. Almost...

If anybody needs their car detailed, don't hesitate to give the guy a call! I'll be using his services again next week for my Miata and I can't wait to see what he does with the hazed-over paint.
