I find that I need to replace the rubber tubing that connects my EGR sensor to the pickup tubes coming from the EGR tube itself. On the Focus these two pickup tubes are of different lengths and different widths. The EGR sensor connection tubes are also of different widths. I think that's to ensure that the sensor gets connected to the pickup tubes the right way.

My replacement EGR tube has these pickup tubes of the same widths but of opposite lengths! In other words where the original one was short, now it's long and where it was long now it's short.

The sensor connects to the pickup tubes using 2 rubber hose pieces about 1/2" thick, one is about 2" long and the other about 1 1/2" long. The shorter one has an ID of 7mm and the longer one has an ID of 5mm.

So, the long and short of it all (sorry) is that I need to find a source for this rubber hose material. I assume it's special since it's passing exhaust gasses so I don't think I can just use any hose. The original hose pieces are a reddish rubber inside a black rubber sleeve.

Thanks.

Simon

I'd try to find silicone hoses. There's a company called stylin' motors (don't let the ghey name fool you) who makes silicone hose for turbo applications. You'd probably be interested in their silicone vacuum hoses. They have varied diameters and I'm sure would last you a very long time.

I have their turbo and vacuum kit for my 850 and the quality is top notch. - AB

Hmm, Looks good for vacuum hoses but they have a minimum order of 10ft and I only need a few inches. Also they didn't have 5mm or 7mm sizes.

Any other suggestions, people?

Simon

What size do they have? Something close (that doesn't leak) will work. It doesn't have to be exact.

Simon, If you can find a size that works for you, I can send you some to try out. - AB
