I'm not all that familiar with Ferodos, except that they have been around longer than just about anyone in the brake business.
Does anyone have any experiences to share? How does their line-up compare to Hawk or Carbotech?
At the urging of Sam Strano, I switched from Hawk Blues to the Ferodo DS2500 (still run the HPS on the rear). I can not say enough about the overall improvement.
The DS2500 has a nice linear feel, whereas the Hawks have an initial bite. Anyone driving a non-abs, live rear axle car knows initial bite scares the hell out of you.
In December I put the Hawks back on the front for the PCA full course event. I ran one session and switched right back to the well worn Ferodos. With the Hawks, three times the front locked up at the top of RollerCoaster and by the grace of god, I did not go off. With the Ferodos, carrying as much or more speed, no wheel lock.
The dust is no different than the Hawks. The Ferodos are suppose to last longer, but I think they are about the same. Both the Blues and the DS2500 treat the rotors the same.
Brake pads are like women, we all have our own preference. But pads are cheaper to experiment with
