On the recommendation of my "tire man" I took my rotors to Eddie at Copelands on Honeycutt Road in North Raleigh. You can find them here.

$12 for the pair. Friendly service. Lots of character.

Recommended.

Wow, that's cheap. I was paying $12 each at Pep Boyz. Time for a change I guess.

The only problem with Copelands is that his lathe is a little off. Bob had 10 rotors turned there and all 10 had 4 - 5 thousands run out when reinstalled. Before you blame the car. It was 4 wheel disks on 2 cars and fronts on the family 'burban. :?

I haven't done any sort of measurement on my rotors but after fitting new Bobcats and running my bedding sequence they seemed like the they were perfect.

Maybe Copelands has fixed the problem then. :D

When I went out today I was trying to feel if there was any problem with the braking. None whatsoever. Before my new pads and turned rotors I was experiencing a slight vibration while braking. Completely gone now. Smooth as a baby's patooshey. So I give Copelands a thumbs up.

OK. Hold the praise. Following George's comments and having an extra day or so in "test mode" I've become a tad suspicious. Maybe, just maybe, I'm sensing some vibration in the brakes.

How can one measure the accuracy of a rotor? Is there some neat kitchen-sink test that I can perform to see how true my rotors are?

Put a dial indicator on the rotor and rotate the hub. The indicator will bounce a little bit but should give you an approximation of runout.
I don't have one here but I do at my parents house in Winston Salem.
You could also clamp a pencil very close to the surface and watch the gap for changes.
