As many of you know I've been shopping for a new SUV. I had been to 5-6 various dealers and delt with alot of BS! I finally took Phil Wehmans advice and visited MJ's Nissan. My initial visit was with a rather new salesman that I wasn't to happy with (he no longer works there!)

Things improved dramatically when I contacted the internet sales manager Vincent Elliot and made reference to Phil being a friend of the dealership sales manager Dave Butler. Dave was waiting for me when I arrived and was interested in going for a ride in the STi! (Dave really enjoys performance and specialty type cars.) After the test drive he took time to sit down with me and listen to what I needed to make it work. He offered me a very fair price on my trade and plans to sell it at his dealership vs selling to another dealer at a wholesale price.

The Armada was equipped exactly the way I wanted and he gave a rather large discount in addition to the 2% financing rate. :D

Vincent was exceptional as well. He was very relaxed, with no pressure at all. He helped me feel more relaxed as well. His many years of experience at MJ's Nissan was obvious in the way he worked with me through the entire process. He even went out and helped the detailers prep the car to expedite the process.

If you have any interest in a new Nissan I'd encourage you to contact Vincent and Dave, they are truely a class act. I recommend them both witout reservation :D

I've known Dave Butler, the sales manager, for 3 years and he is a good guy. Earlier this year when looking for new cars, I decided to see what he was like to do business with. The guy is sincerely committed to making a purchase there a good experience, and he's a straight shooter. I've now bought 2 vehicles from him!

I talked to him a couple of days ago and he would prefer club members who are shopping for a Nissan to contact him directly! He's not going to give his cars away, but you'll probably feel good about the overall deal!

Phil

It sounds like your friend really would be a good salesperson to work with, but my overall impression of Michael Jordan Nissan is not very good.

First, they tack on $600 (or something like that) for "Michael Jordan Signature Service.) Ask them what that means sometime...I was told (by a salesperson) that you are paying for a some free oil changes and shuttle service to Durham/RTP. Try negotiating a price for the car first and then say that you do not want the "MJ Signature Service." My housemate did that on my advice. They won't remove it even though it is sold as a separate option that you should have the right to accept or refuse.

Second, the salesperson that my housemate worked with was very high pressure about everything. My housemate told the guy that he would be financing through his credit union. The guy kept pressuring him to let them compete for a lower rate. Finally, he agreed. The salesperson asked him to sign the form giving them permission to check his credit. He gave him two papers and told him to sign. One of the papers was a BILL OF SALE. Nothing says shenanigans like a salesperson trying to trick you into signing a bill of sale.

Needless to say, he bought a Maxima; but not from Michael Jordan. Based on Dan's observations of the first salesperson he spoke with and my housemate's experience; it sounds like they are too hit or miss with their salespeople.
