What does it take to keep a rearview mirror glued to the windshield? I've had to reglue the mirror on my '90 Mustang five or six times over the last few years. The Permatex glue that you buy at local auto parts stores is only good for a couple of months. Last year I griped to the counterman at the local NAPA about this, and he recommended using the 3M brand adhesive (though he didn't carry it either). I bought it on Amazon and it lasted about six months (most of that time with the car garaged), but today I came home and found the mirror lying on the silver fabric sunscreen. The car had been parked outdoors since last Tuesday.

I had a Nissan pickup and a Jeep Wrangler that had the same problem. I have used a few different glues with varying success. You probably already know this, but cleaning is the key. The cleaner the two surfaces are, the stronger the bond. I never found a glue that held permanently.

You might want to call up a windshield repair place and see what they use. Although, using fresh clean glass probably helps.

At the glass company we used a 2 part glue. IT was a glue in a tube and an activator that brushed on the glass. It came from CR Laurence but they do not sell anything retail. I used to clean all the old glue off and then hit the mirror button with a file to slightly rough it up.

Yes I voted against you joining the club.

I like Georges suggestion. You need to either go to a windshield store or, most successfully for me, lightly sand the windsgield and mirror base
