Our house is slowly sinking into the swamp.

Before things get much worse, I'd like to find out what I should be doing, and would love some recommendations on who to call. I'm not against hiring an engineer to tell me what the problem is, then shop around for a repair crew. I'm not against re-hanging all the doors, if that is a better solution (the house is 30 years old), but things seem to have gotten worse in the last year.

About the only name I know is "Ram Jack," and that's because they spend more on marketing than anyone else.

What says THSCC?

Shortly after we purchased our current home we discovered one of the piers in the center of the house had sunk so low there as an air gap between the top and the joist. Note, this was missed by the inspector.

Long story short, we ended up using...

It's been over a decade ago. I can't remember how we picked them. They removed the existing pier, drove into the ground an engineered metal column until it reached stable earth, then a new block pier was built on that. Lastly they jacked up the house and using metal shims leveled the house. It has been fine since then. I was very happy with the work.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

I really like the structural engineer I have used- He is not an alarmist and he used to run HPDE with the club many years ago. Rob Munach: http://robmunachpe.com/
