So here's the deal. Wifey got me an awesome 2-layer fire suit for X-mas. It was a little big - but they say better loose than tight. Here I am modeling it back in my less fit days (pre-January 2015).

Since then I have steadily lost weight and at the May Lemon's race I was getting "friendly" comments about my oversized suit - aka: Marshmellowman.

So now I'm down about 30lbs and I'm thinking I need to get the suit altered - cuz I'm to cheap to buy a new one.

Is this something that should be sent to SPARCO (the manufacturer)? Or should I buy some nomex thread and take it to a tailor? Anybody done this? Any suggestions for a local tailor?

Thanks!

I so hate you are missing the 24 at VIR in August. You thought it was hot at Barber in February in your "Sta-Puff Man" suit.

Henry shipped his and had it altered. Talk to him about it tonight.

Just to close the loop with y'all. I took the suit to Lois Edge, owner of Im-Edge in Troutman, NC

http://www.im-edge.net/index.html

Lois measured me up, pinned the suit, took it in at the waist, butt & legs, shortened the belt, shortened the arms & legs, added a flap for the coolshirt lines, embroidered my name and blood type then shipped it to me in time for the CMP race. She had it about 3 weeks. I'm very happy with it - wadaya think?

Looks good Cash. Do you mind PM'ing me the cost for that? I'm in the same boat now and Troutman is pretty close to Charlotte. - AB

I don't mind sharing what I have in the suit. The suit is a Sparco X-Light Evo-3

http://www.ogracing.com/sparco-x-light-evo-3-racing-suit

I've seen it advertised for $1200 to $1500. It is the one I wanted and my wife found it for $450 - brand new with the tags still on it (as you can see on my left shoulder in the first pic). I spent $350 on alterations with Lois, so I have $800 in the suit.

Lois is super nice and does work for lots of race teams in the Charlotte area. She was working on a big order for Penske when I got there. Give her a call - but be sure to give her at least two weeks.

Sounds like my Alpinestars. I have about $700 into it, but it was on closeout from $1600. For $350 to have it fit right seems like a good idea. - AB
