Cool, just trying to be helpful.

As far as I know, the stronger eccentrics came on all NB's. I am not sure about the thread pitch, but the newer design appears to have a larger bolt, thicker eccentric disc's and a V or W shaped key way to keep the "loose" disc (one that goes under the nut) fixed in relation to the bolt shaft. The old design was a flat sided bolt that tended to wallow out the eccentric disc after a few alignments. I learned this the hard way when I stared aligning the car and the a control arm would not move when the eccentric bolt was turned :)

Yes the fact that the early eccentrics didn't have the washer keyed to the shaft of the eccentric was a major oversight in my opinion.

Apparently they learned and did it right on the 6.

+1 for Colonial.

I was driving back from a lunch in Chapel Hill yesterday and remembered this recommendation since my steering wheel in the IS300 has been sitting with about 1° of offset after replacing the #2 control arms and figured I'd give them a shot.

As soon as I walked in I recognized Connie from her days at Fleet Service at the US1/401 split fixing my delivery trucks from the playground equipment days. She's super friendly and listened to my abbreviated story about the tire wear nightmares I've been having on the sedan this past year. 45 minutes later, I was on my way for $69.95.

That's great Matt, I'm glad they did well by you. I always worry when I make a recommendation that people won't have as good an experience as I did. Mostly that happens with restaurants though.

I might take some toe out of the rear of the Miata before NCCAR. If I do, I'll let you guys know what they charge me to only align half a car. Even if it's $70 each time they put it on the rack, that's still a good price for good, custom work.

Anyone have any recent experience with this shop? Doing my normal "string and bubble gauge" alignment on the new Mustang rear suspension isn't going to be as easy as it was with the FF or, obviously, the solid axle Mustangs. Asheboro Ford will do it "my way" but that is over an hour drive away.

FYI it looks like they now have a Colonial Tire url: http://colonialtireandauto.com/Home.php

Thanks!

That's great news, because Connie was running the show there when I first learned about them. Glad to hear she's still there.

Dick, I'll be taking the Focus there sometime soon. The alignment tech who was so good to me with the Miata is named Edson.

Dick, did you ever take the Mustang to Colonial, or did you end up someplace else? Just following up.

Thanks for the reminder and I need to get over there before the next event. Running mystery alignment still...

No need yet. Per previous Asheboro Ford measurements which confirmed my DIY measurements I've only needed to tweak front toe. At this point I don't have a clue what would be "better".

Mike had my car up on their rack and checked to make sure it was in factory specs. I just didn't think to ask him what it was set to, and he probably doesn't remember. It drives down the road great, mostly I'd like to just see what I've got. As far as I know only toe is adjustable, and Sam even told me to not bother.

I don't know if Colonial is the kind of place that will be willing to do esoteric stuff like loosen strut mounts and push them in to try and squeak more camber out of my car, but I've nver asked them. Probably worth a phone call in any case.
