Anyone have any recommendations for a landscape designer? We're planning on putting a pool in and want to work with someone more insightful and creative than we are :) I know we could go straight to the pool companies, but we'd prefer to work with someone independent, if we can find a good person/company.

Thanks for any leads.

last week eric hardcastle mentioned that he used someone to plan out their land/hardscape and it was well worth the money

We used http://www.brookscapes.com/ about 5 years ago for our front yard. It was $500 for our front yard (~1/6 acre). They were fine. I'm not sure why we chose them at the time. I know we met with the designer at our house twice. Once to get a feel for what we wanted and a second time with a few rough plans before making the final plan.

I'm glad we did it. I made sure to emphasize I wanted low maintenance plants. Also it's nice having someone choose plants that match your sun to shade areas. Honestly, we have probably only done about 10% of the plan for now. Too many other projects taking up resources (see roofing thread).
