Our Leaf Guard systems copes with lots of leaves, needles, and acorns. It appears that whatever gets into the gutters flushes out in the next heavy rain. We have on "upper roof dumps on lower roof and then goes to a valley area that they handle just fine with an accessory that can handle the heavy flow.

Hhere's a late entry to the discussion. Since I already had aluminum gutters all arround, we went with BJ's gutter covers. The net result was a cover that mimics the LeafGuard, but the cover just slips under the shingles and covers the gutter. Resuljts on water control was similar to the LeafGuard, but since the cover holds moisture inside the cover it caused the facia boards to rot between the gutter and the cover.
Since. we are surrounded by trees I found it easier to take off the gutters and just handle the water at ground level. Little plastic, a little grading, and some decorative gravel next to the foundation keeps the water away from the foundation, and I never have a gutter to clean.
