Donnie - Thanks for the info.
Anyone - What "rust protection" is practical for a long open trailer between sandblasting or striping and being able to POR-15 it or paint it? I'm dealing with the tow back home and the likelihood of significant "outside time" before and during the whole process while waiting for good weather and/or time. Is there something that can be applied "by the sandblaster"?
POR-15 instructions seem to emphasize applying to bare metal, not old paint or primer (other than maybe their prep stuff).
Thanks!
Edit to add: Since the tow to/from NCAR this weekend is likely to be wet the idea of an enclosed trailer is sounding better.
How significant is an additional 1000 to 1500 lbs trailer weight plus the incremental aero drag behind our tall camper van compared to an open trailer? I'm thinking of the mountains and hills between here and the midwest. We currently climb the grades in West Virginia and Virginia in second gear (3 speed auto) at about 45 mph worst case with some throttle left as I recall.
