Electronic payment helps facilitate payment when you are thinking about it. Akin to impulse shopping I guess. By the time I get home and I am near the checkbook, envelopes, and stamps, I have forgotten about renewing. Maybe I should keep my checkbook and stuff at work, so while I am surfing the internet pretending to work I can pay my bills.

Nah, I just sent myself an email. Maybe I will remember to read it tonight.....

Make the handling fee $5, and I'll be your first customer.

I'm guessing the club has a long running manual procedure of processing paper membership forms, so someone would have to create a dual process now of paper and electronic and create all the checks and balances necessary for both to co-exist.

Seriously though, has anyone asked Bowie if he would mind getting paypal confirmation emails for membership renewals? Maybe not for initial applications, but I can't see him balking at it for renewals.

Knowing Bowie, he probably would say, "Sure! I had been hoping you guys would do this, I'm sick of opening envelopes" or something equally positive and encouraging in support of making a change :)

Bless his heart :)

It's a feasible process for renewals, certainly. It's being discussed, but likely won't make this year's membership/forums cutoff....

Come on guys it is not hard.

1. I filled out the form and printed it out.

http://www.thscc.com/general/forms/mem_app.pdf

2. Wrote a check. (Remember they taught you to write in elementary school.)

3. Printed an envelope in Word.

4. Affixed postage and sent it in the mail.

All this with a Sam Adams in hand.

Crap, forgot the Sam Adams. Be right back.... ok, got it.

Done, in the mail!!! Well, if I remember to put it in the box tomorrow morning. I should probably set a reminder on my phone.....

THSCC now has it's own MotorsportReg account which I could fairly easily set up to accept membership payments... along with all the necessary required info.

Of course, to protect the club financially, there would have to be a "convenience" charge to cover the MSR fees.

This is an account that is separate from the track program MSR account, and could of course be configured to handle all AutoX and RallyX registrations as well... I could EVEN set it up to accept membership payments WHEN someone registers for an event... AND/OR set it up to accept the yearly passes or whatever you guys want.

The monies are deposited directly to the THSCC account every two weeks, automatically... no need to "request" funds

Just a thought 8)

EDIT... oh yeah... it can also be set up to manage permanent numbers and all classes

EDIT #2 ... those of you who already have MSR accounts won't need to create new ones, you'll just be adding another "club" to your MSR club list

it is my understanding Stacy that the autoX'ers have a pesky & chronic refund issue. potential accounting nightmare.

LOL ... hey... anything can be worked around if you're creative enough :)

If it's an event "overselling" issue, that's easily handled by the MSR inventory and wait list options. MSR also has an extremely nifty and easy to use (for both parties) credit management system. It really is an extremely powerful bit of programming.

People have often assumed Bowie thinks a certain way because he has done it like 'X' for so long. I've found that is rarely the case.

It was 'assumed' for a long time that Bowie wanted to do the 'dead birds' every year therefore annual the X-mas party couldn't be moved elsewhere. When I asked him about moving the party to a larger venue and having it catered, he said 'I think that is an excellent idea, and I won't have to do a thing'.

If it will make it easier for the members and Bowie, I can assure you he'd be all for it.
