The track team needs to find a CHEAP portable PA system for use at driver's meetings. The tracks will RENT us one for $100/weekend, which is Bulls**t.

Could anyone build us one from an old receiver with a mic input and a couple of dime-store box speakers? Maybe an old CB and a 12VDC converter. The thing needs to be fairly rugged.

All you blue-toothed EE's out there ought to be able to cobble something up. The Track Program will compensate you!! :)

Get a megaphone, maybe something like this.

Chris Corbetto uses something like that for the driver's meeting and awards ceremony.

Really thinking about something to be used in the Pagoda Room at VIR.
Using a megaphone reminds me of that scene in Pink Floyd's "The Wall". :)

You need to get out more...Chris uses a megaphone with the attached mic in the Pagoda room :-) Let's see, costs less than $100, packs easily, requires no set up and you only need a couple of batteries. yes, the other option is to cobble together a system that will take up the back of your truck, requires a couple of people to set up and will work 50% of the time ;-)

$199 isn't cheap but it looks pretty rugged.

This one is a little cheaper, $160

Even cheaper at $88

Ya'll need to talk to Keith Strassel, he does this stuff for a living.

Somewhere buried the remains of the original equipment for autocrossing should be our old PA. As I recall nothing wrong with it except wasn't easy to make work on 12V. It was the BIG black and I think silver one.

It would be fine for what we need for the track program. Anyone know where it is? I'll check to see if perhaps I'm the one storing it! Still have some stuff scattered around from the old bus......

Keith Strassel (Audio Man) has volunteered to put one together. He's looking for a budget.
Something I was to bring up in a meeting?

Hopefully he'll see this thread and chime in.
