Greetings Autocrossers!

Here's the Basic Info on the upcoming Novice/Intermediate Autocross School:

Date: Saturday, October 4, 2003 (Points Event to follow on Sunday)
Place: Laurinburg-Maxton Airport
Time: in the morning til mid afternoon (schedule to be announced later)
Lunch will be provided Accommodations: We are working on getting a group rate at a hotel in Laurinburg.

Preregistration is REQUIRED (you can use last month's pass code)
Priority is given to THSCC members for Intermediate School (others will be able to apply two weeks before the event)

For the Novice School, we will allow members, and non-members invited
by a club member to have priority. Invite that friend that's been interested in autocrossing to come and join you.

General public can register two weeks in advance for any open slots.

You MUST pay in advance (please pay via Paypal)

(If you are not sure how to pay via paypal, please ask a computer literate friend. The web page will not force you to pay, but we will remove you from the list if you have not paid as the school draws near.)

Details
-----------------------------

This year's autocross school is going to be a bit different from anything
we've done before. The Intermediate/Advanced School is on the calendar,
and yet, we've had numerous requests for another novice school as well. Mike Whitney has had a major conflict and won't be chairing this event, but the school will be based on the format he had planned.

This year, we will be running a combined school- with novices and intermediate students. Our event limits will be:

20 Novices (7 events or less)

20 Intermediate Students (8 events or more)

We will also have 20 instructors, to maximize your time and the consistency of instruction.

For the purposes of the school, a novice is somebody with an experience range between ZERO events and seven events. If you've done eight or more events, including schools, then you can sign up as an intermediate student.

If you have been autocrossing for three, four or more years OR you routinely pax in the top 25% of the event field, this is not the school for you. We are going to be focusing on novices, and those who are just beyond the novice level. If you've paxed higher than any of the autox VPs or the Prez this year, you can't come to this one unless you are instructing! If you consider yourself an advanced student, you should contact me about instructing!

The cost for this event is $30.00, which includes lunch. You should still
bring gallons of cold water to drink though!

Students will work with instructors in the morning and in the early afternoon. Of course you will be working for a part of that time as well. This year, as a reward to our usually burned out, self sacrificing instructors, we will be asking the students to work the course for a session after lunch while the instructors drive. We expect to dismiss the students between 3:00 and 3:30 in the afternoon.

Planned activities include:

- re-calibration of your senses (meaning you ride with the instructor in
the instructor's car)

- course walking and analysis

- lots of runs with an instructor coaching you in your car

- timed and un-timed courses

- lunch time education

Registration Instructions
==========================
Registration is now open at http://www.thscc.com/autocross/prereg_autox.html
The password from August will work.
There is a separate page for Novices and Intermediate Students to register. Ignore the special announcements box that comes up after click "Submit Entry"

The Schedule, details, and other info will be forwarded to you about a week before the school. Be sure you use a valid and CURRENT email address when you sign up. If you have changed your email address since you filled out the form on the web page which contains your name, car, email, etc., please update it!!! It would be helpful if the car information was correct for the car you plan to drive in the school.

If you are a member and want to invite a friend that is a NOVICE and a non-member, please help them get signed up.

Special thanks to the tireless efforts of Carl Fisher for setting up the pre-reg web pages for us!!

Thanks and see ya on course.

Your Event Chairs,

Miles Beam
Jim Feinberg

Miles, I think it may be a good idea to post the hotel information here as well. Just a thought.
