WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS!!!

Hi all -

As has been mentioned at the club meetings, the BMWCCA is holding a Street Survival School on Saturday (4/14) at the Raleigh Police Training center. THSCC is providing course and equipment support, and we need some help!

http://www.streetsurvival.org/streetsurvival/

Please volunteer some of your time to help this group of 15-21 year olds learn some VITAL skills to make them safer and more aware drivers on the road. We all know about the problem, now you can DO something about it!

First, we need one person to volunteer to get the bus and trailer from the storage area in Apex to the Raleigh PD site on Friday (4/13) in the AM. PM Mike Whitney for details.

Bus to RPD Site before event => Mike Whitney

Bus from RPD Site to Apex after event => ????? <==SOMEONE PLEASE HELP WITH THIS!

Friday (4/13) Setup
Need 4+/- people for setup starting at 10am on Friday. we will have a detailed course map and the trailer should be there. We will be doing some testing of the elements but nothing too crazy.

Friday Setup Volunteers: (1-2 more needed)
Miles Beam
Rob Harvey
Gilbert Reynolds
Coco Strayer
David Spratte (tentative)

Saturday (4/14) Courseworkers
If possible we would like to make sure we man the course with experienced autocrossers who understand the risks of moving cars, and know how to handle the radio and flags. I would like to have at least 6 people in the morning (from about 8am to noon) and 6 in the afternoon (1-4pm). If you can do both great.

Morning - Meeting @ 9am at SHELTER: (1-2 more needed)
Wes Eargle
Ash Nelson
Stephen Westerfield
Phil Fausz
Gene Casale

Afternoon - Meeting @ 12:30 on COURSE: (1-2 more needed)
Wes Eargle
Ash Nelson
Shawna Geyer
Phil Fausz
Gene Casale

Please post here and let me know what you can help with! Thanks!

Put me down for all day Saturday as a volunteer; I pretty much did everything last time from instruction to coursework to idea bouncer. I even still have my whistle and lanyard.

Put me down for all day Saturday course working.

I also have video cameras and tripods available to capture some of the fun if we are interested in that. :D

Thanks Rob for posting the request.

I'll be helping set this one up, and we really need experienced autocross workers on course. I've done this using "helpful parents" and believe me, it goes much smoother if we have course workers that are familiar with an autocross type environment.

Remember you only have to work one half of the day if you want (morning or afternoon, or about three hours on course).

Regarding the bus, I've got permission from the Raleigh PD to delvier the bus early. It could be delivered during the business day on Wednesday or Thursday, roughly between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. If you can do that for us, let me know. Just pm me or call me at 919-773-1772. I will need to let the Raleigh PD know when to expect the bus once we know though.

Tarheel has always been filled with so many people willing to give of themselves to help the club, or to help a worthy cause. I think this a worthy cause and your contributions could help save a life.

Wes, and Ash, thanks for being willing to help out. I look forward to working with you and the others that I know will sign up.

Thanks and PM or call me if you need more info on the school or what is involved in helping out.

We'll need at least five or so in the morning and another five in the afternoon.

Thank you for volunteering!

OK gang.....I'm back from my trip to Alabama.

I will start consolidating the volunteer list within my original post. As you can see we still need more volunteers so please help if you can!!

Regarding the bus....we need a volunteer to get the bus to the site before Friday AND we need a volunteer to take it back to Apex after the event on Sat.

Rob

Thanks Ash. I spoke with Mike Whitney earlier today and he informed me that he is going to take the bus over to the RPD site tomorrow.

OK, thanks for the update!

I was wondering if anyone has a link to a map to the site. I tried the link from the Street Survival page and Mapquest is not able to find 8401 Battlebridge Road in Raleigh or Garner. I have been there, and I know it's off 70, but it's been several months so I just want to be sure I know where it is...

Thanks in advance!

I've already contacted Brian (before I knew of this post) and I'll be there for Saturday. What I don't know is, do they still have this in the rain? I didn't see my answer on their site. Thanks!
