Then what is ProSolo?

Come on Jim, you KNOW that the first person back thru the finish line in a prosolo is not necessarily the winner, it's still a time comparison...

Back on topic: Still no official decision only opinions.

To be fair to the N&O, some of the local folks who write columns for them are reasonable, nice, and ethical. (I'm thinking in particular of Grant Parsons, who went on to be Senior Editor at the AMA's motorcycle magazine.) If the Road Worrier is such a guy, and can write an entertaining article about his positive experience with the THSCC, that might be a good thing. Remember this guy is a columnist, not a news reporter, and that means he can divorce the column from direct drunk-crash-of-the-month comparisons. He might even allow the THSCC final approval on the column -- such things have happened before. This is an N&O column, a laid back slice of North Carolina life. It entertains and engages, not grabs attention with drama.

(This isn't meant to endorse the idea of a reporter coming to do a story. Personally I'm neutral on the subject. I don't know this guy, I just have a good opinion of some N&O columnists that I have known.)

THSCC does not hold drivers ed events. Members can refer people to the various driving schools in the area for training like that. THSCC does not officially endorse any drivers ed school.

In holding with past tradition, I also beleive that "flying under the radar" is the route the club will take. Bowie is the only person that could sway my opinion. Imagine if a reporter saw an incident like the several that I have witnessed at events with cars going off. Yeah, its rare but happens. We sure dont need press like this.

Asking for media coverage is a solution looking for a problem. We have a large and passionate membership with reasonably sized events. Our current word of mouth advertising has our membership as large as ever. I see no reason to change.

I will be more than happy to discuss this in private via PM's, email or in person at L'burg on Sunday.

It might sound like I am backing off my previously posted opinion. But I think that what you just said Ryan is correct. I wish I had been smart enough to think of that.

Thank you for the official directive. Unfortunately it is too late to stop him from appearing if he decides to, If he approaches me I will refer him to you Ryan.
Once again, for the record I never ever said Thscc offered driver ed training, driver training schools or anything resembling such. I had originally said how my experiences as an AXer had helped me avoid several accidents and taught me what NOT to do in and emergency situation such as locking up the brakes, overcorrecting, and driving beyond the car's capabilities. (I guess I was prompted by the constant referal to the RX8 as "sports car") The conversation went from there to what AX was, where it was done, and finally getting to thscc as sponsoring the local events. He said he was familiar with thscc from many years ago when he had gone to a track event near Charlotte with a member(s?) for a story, and it was probably time to do another one on the club.
He wanted to know when the next event was and I told him we were having a novice school and the first points event of the season Mar 18,19 at Laurinburg, and told him he could find the season schedule on the web site. This is nothing more than I tell 2 or 3 people a week when the subject comes up (which is quite often since my office walls are covered with trophies and pictures.) I did not realize that this club prefered to "fly under the radar" but now I know and will refer people to the other area clubs from now on. I meant reporters not people sorry.
