Never know. I don't recall ever hearing about his Chevette experiences though. Might be a side of him I've never seen.

:word: As a mater of fact we did vote down an applicant during the Spitzner administration. The guy drove a 911 and worked for the EPA.

Vance Swift was turned down several times before being allowed to join the club. That is why he always voted no on new member applicants. Upon Vance passing away I continued the tradition. I have been meaning to explain this tradition in a newsletter article but inertia got in the way. :beerbuds:

Wasn't "Uncle" Vance also member # 007? And he never ever got a speeding ticket in 60+ years of driving? Not for lack of trying, I'm sure...

I honestly couldn't tell you. I've only known him for about 6 years. The only thing I do know education wise is that he went to ECU!!

I remember that. I seem to remember some other aggravating factors, like a lack of driving record, and some odd turns of phrase on the application. And he didn't turn up to the meeting. :P I think Kurt said he told the guy he'd lost the application, but he never did apply again that I recall.

George was just the natural successor to Vance for the Nay! vote. It's not just the tradition, but the spirit of the tradition that's been maintained without interruption. Thanks, George!

Well, since you are talking about me, I figured I would post to introduce myself. My name is Jeb (duh!) and I did grow up in Raleigh. I went to Sanderson and graduated in 92. I did go to highschool with a Chris Brown and for the record it was not a Chevette! It was a Pontiac T1000!

I was a club member I think in 1997 and rand one event in an Accord as a novice. I now have a Mazda3 hatch and plan on running in the STS class. It has been a while since I have done anything like this so, I am really looking forward honing my skills in this car.

I am an Assistant Manager at Discount Tire and starting on Monday I can be found at the store on Capital Blvd in Wake Forest (about 5 minutes north of the mall). I know the club is tied into Tire Rack, but I can mount thier tires and offer lifetime services on them. We can price match as well. For you track guys we have force balancing available too.

whoa... this turned into a sales pitch... sorry!

I look forward to meeting everyone and having a ton of fun in Laurinburg.
