Just an update on the behind the scenes planning of your new senior officers. Here is a brief summary of the changes for this upcoming season. Stay tuned for more detailed information in the upcoming issue of the H&T.

1) Renaming of Pro to "X" Class. An attempt to lose some of the elitist nature associated with this class and be more in-line with what other clubs are running.

2) Combined Ladies (PAX) Class. Since turn out has been typically low in the individual Ladies classes, a combined indexed one seems more prudent. Unlike some other clubs, it will be a ladies' choice of whether or not she runs in this class.

3) Year long Novice Class. Thought to be a good idea for years we are now going to give it a shot.

4) Tiered Entry Payment. $20 for pre-paid members. $25 for all non-members and those who pay at the event. Now is a good time to buy that season pass were are offering.

5) Cost/space saving Event Trophies. The traditional wooden plaques will be presented to Novices and people who receive FT awards. All other classes will receive a magnetic dash plaque with your finishing position added to it. The larger season long plaques will be still be offered, but at a cost of $5 each for those who would like one.

What are the requirements to be eligible for the year long novice class?

1st timers only? 3 or less events?

I have run a total of 4 events, 2 as a novice and 2 in open class, however I would still certainly consider myself a novice to autocross.

Just curious what you guys may have discussed/are considering as far as the novice class is concerned.

3 events or less is the rule.

Absolutely! Let me borrow your Vette for a weekend and I'll make sure you can run Novice.

Hey, all politics involve bribery of some sort. We'll just say you're the head of a "special interest group".

BTW, I was serious about borrowing the Vette. I'll even let you drive my Miata for your trouble. 8)

The following changes have been made to the preregistration and "permanent number" systems:

  1. Change all references of "Pro" to "X" class.
  2. Consolidate all the "Ladies" class options into a single Ladies
    indexed class option (called LAD).
The following work has also been done in the prereg system:
  1. Change the Test and Tune date to Sunday Feb. 27
  2. Set up a tiered payment scheme ($25 non-members, $20
    for pre-paying members)
  3. Changed class category descriptions to add Ladies, indicate that Novice may be run for a year, and change PRO to X (also modified description somewhat)

I also took the liberty of modifying the "permanent number" file to change all PRO entries to "X" and all Ladies entries (eg. GSL) to "LAD".

Your humble webmaster,

with the introduction of a year-long novice class does that mean permanent numbers for those that purchase season event entries and choose to compete in the novice class?

and please pardon my stupidity, but does this mean i would be in stock class and novice class?

as someone who is new to the sport i like the idea of a seperate yearlong novice class. not that i expect this to be me, but what if someone from the novice class shows stellar ability. would they be re-classed?

and what if a parrot with a lisp were to...... never mind.

I imagine that if a novice wants to they could opt to run in an open class at a later time.

Novice class, Street Tire class, and Pro/X class all use the Pax index due to the wide variety of cars and their level of preparation. Your Pax is multiplied by your total time to yield a net time. Pax depends on your classification. In particular you with a 328is would run with a D-Stock Pax of .796.
