Novices will still not be allowed to sign up for permanent numbers as a Novice. However, anyone (including Novices) buying a season pass will be placed into the event entry of every (autocross) event. That's assuming, of course, that someone lets me know who's gotten them... :-)

If this becomes a problem, the Pres/AXVP's will have to do a little investigation as to their TRUE novice nature and talk with the driver themselves about the situation. I know of at least 2 people that would have destroyed NOVICE class in 2004.

True. Nobody is required to run a particular class just because they qualify for it. It's the driver's choice if the car (and the driver in Novice Class) is legal for the class.

Yeah, I think if you trophy at a national event you probably lose your novice status. ;-)

So a few questions and observations.

Novice is now a year long thing right? Do you still go to open when you trophy?

And no trophy's, wood that is, except for novices right?

So if you are a novice all year you can get a trophy every event, while no one else can?

Just curious about the details

I've cleaned out about 45 non-members who had permanent numbers reserved in the online system. While I was in there, I noticed there was lots of other info that was clearly out of date- members who haven't been to an autocross in several years, people specifying numbers and cars they don't use anymore, etc.

If y'all would be willing to take a minute to view your Permanent Number entry (or verify that you *don't* have one if you don't autoX with us anymore), it'll make the system work better for the rest of us. Thanks- here's a simple step-by-step:
  1. Go to http://thscc.com/autocross/permnumchg_autox.html
  2. Enter your driver's license state and number.
  3. Scroll down and click the "View My Info" button.
  4. Verify that the information displayed is correct:
    • If you want to delete your entry, click the browser's BACK button, then click "Delete My Info".
    • If you need to change your entry, click the browser's BACK button, make the needed changes on the form, then click the "Update My Info" button.
  5. You're done- thanks!

Carl,

I just updated my perm number info but noticed that STS2 (STT) and STU are not on the drop down menu.

You'll still get trophies that show your finishing position. Just not wood.

Why have we regressed to the point of not giving out trophies? We are the only club that I have heard of with such a silly policy. You would think for one of the highest entry fees around, we would be giving away the nicest trophies.

So for $20-$25 what does a winner take home? A dash plaque and a another sticky thing with their finishing position? C'mon let's get real here. Even Triad gives us our trophies :)

Elite...I think we are just cheap now.

We are not getting rid of trophies. We are simply trying out a new design. The new trophies do save us a small amount of money, but that was only one of the reasons behind changing them. If you look through old posts, the magnetics seemed to have a lot of support.

Let's give the idea a chance before completely dismissing it.

Maybe I am confused...new design? You are replacing the traditional trophies with refrigerator magnets. I tried to look for the outpouring of support you mentioned for the magnets, but I must have missed it.

I was a little suprised by the magnet for Laurinburg. I was really surprised when I had to super glue it to my year-long plaque. I thought who was the idiot that thought this up.

I do remember an online pool that said pretty much leave things the way they were.

I guess I now have an excuse to get a bigger refrigerator!
