I guess the Despair folks got tired of having their best stuff stolen. My favorite was from their 2003 calendar, showing a penguin waddling across the ice: "You'll never know how far you can walk, until you try to fly".

However, this one pretty much sums up why our club is better than every other club: http://www.thinkgeek.com/cubegoodies/po ... pair/65c7/

All kidding aside, the despair.com stuff is awesome. I remember back in the late 90s when I started seeing their work pop up in response to the motivational posters. :)

Be careful for what you ask for as I am sure it can be arranged. ;)

We are at 7 pages. What will be the total page count for this thread?

Well if we want to beat the last long running threads. We should mention banning those cheater Azenis that those Elitist A**holes are running... And moving them to a new class beyond PRO with a special PAX, say 1.5

Why not keep this thing going, :deadhorse:

I just took a glance at my helmet (tting on top of stickies in my living room btw) that has the THSCC bumpersticker on it, and it proves that we're not "elitist" but we're "premier".

I just read through this thread for the first time (whew!), and I can't help but comment on the irony of the whole thing from my standpoint.

Shortly after I bought my STi I began poking around the Suby forums and stumbled across a thread that caught my eye as there was mention of a WRX that was "a cone away from whipping the heck out of STX class" at a recent THSCC autocross, an event/class that I happened to have won. My curiosity lead to a brief discussion in the thread w/Mike Winn, whom I didn't know, so I purposely went out of my way to introduce myself and welcome Mike as a new competitor in STX class, mentioning that we should plan to meet in person at the next THSCC event in a couple weeks. At that next event (Rockingham in August), I located Mike and introduced myself in person, reminding him of our earlier e-conversation. I was very surprised by his reaction, said he didn't remember the thread and walked off. Figuring he was just having a bad day, I didn't think much of it until I read this thread. No offense intended, but those who throw stones shouldn't live in glass houses.

Bottom line is although we're all there to have fun, there's no way anyone can expect 120+ people to wear a happy face for 8+ hours straight - we're humans, we all have our "moments" that might appear to others to be elitist and/or asshole'ish and shouldn't be judged or feel ashamed of it.

. . . so if they think we're elitist assholes, f**k 'em all!
(BTW, that last line was a joke.)

AHA! So you're the mystery guy!

I hadn't forgotten that incident when I wrote the thread at all. I later thought to myself right afterwards that "Wow, I was a real ass there, but what was his name?" I couldn't remember your name, what car you drove, or what your NASIOC name was either as there are a few folks from Raleigh that I keep getting confused. (It's either mh_wrx or mx_9 or something isn't it?)

I've felt badly about that since then and have wanted the opportunity to apologize for my rude behavior but not remembering anything, I never could.

Keith I'm really sorry; I had no idea who had walked up to me that day and my actions were wholly inexcusable. I later vaguely remembered some thread, but couldn't for the life of me figure out what thread nor whom else was associated with it.

As far as the "whipping STX" bit...I did very badly that day. Not to mention that my car wasn't quite STX legal and so I ran in SM. That would have been my co-driver for the day who turned quite a reasonable time. That was my first event in the car; I hadn't yet removed the stiffer tranny mount, changed the fuel rails back to stock, or removed the UTEC. (None of which had any power effect, but still made me wholly illegal for the class which is why it was big "if" on the whole STX bit.)

I'd have to go back and look up the results to see for sure, but I am betting that was what was up. I have never whipped, or even been competitive in STX or any other class at a Tarheel event.

I'm MX_9 on those forums. Not elite, just an ass.

Well then. The truth comes out. Pot, meet kettle.

Apparently Mike you too are a victim of a bad day, a moment of forgetfulness, a distraction...whatever. Keep that in mind the next time you start judging people and/or organizations.
