as a new member, i am curious. what is the signifigance of the applicants driving record when considering new membership? is there an insurance consideration or is it simply a question of maturity/responsibility? i believe i understand the 4 digit check number thing but the dmv thing has me stumped. i am looking forward to attending an event soon, hopefully, to see how this all operates.

on a side note, as we do not own a VW, do i need to purchase one? i'm a little fuzzy on the whole good car vs. bad (black) car (corvette). and should we decide to purchase a VW (Z06), would one model be preferential to any other in the VW (wish i knew how to drive it) model line ? any feedback (smart-ass remarks) would be greatly appreciated.

"Honest officer, I wasn't speeding, I was *qualifying*"

I think that quote sums things up well.

Welcome aboard.

You don't have to own a VW to be in the club. It is permissable to be one of the legions who own a Miata. Oh what the hell we even take claped out Toyotas too.

Hell, if I would have known that about clapped out Toyotas...I would not have bought a Miata.

We own a Toyota AND a Miata, so we're covered that's why they let us both in.
The driving record thing is so that we can weed out anyone who might be able to drive faster than the rest of us... we don't like to be beat!

Keep asking questions, and you'll be sure to get a LOT of smart-ass remarks!

and welcome!

I was a little stressed when I applied with a Saab 900 on the application, but I think a lot of the club members used to own them before all the trannies died so they decided to be nice.
