Hello everybody,

Here are the proposed changes to the By-Laws that the club officers are proposing and these will be voted on in the February meeting.

A lot of these changes are to maintain our tax compliance as a non-profit social club (We've been advised by our accountant on these) and some other minor changes bring the by-laws up to date with current operations.

I took a quick scan. It would be nice to have the changes highlighted.

I thought we were dropping reading applications at meetings? It says you must be voted in on Article 2

I can't quite figure out how to display the deltas, but they can be run through a web diff if you're interested.

As for the voting in, depending on the number of applications a list may be passed round to save time.

I have no idea if this has already been voted on or not, but I just did a VERY quick diff. As best as I can tell, outside of formatting tweaks the changes are...

* Various typos fixed with respect to paragraph naming (correct usage of duplicate values)
* Article 3 added a provision for temporary membership
* Article 3 has removed any mention of the concept of "family membership" and voting rights related to a "family membership".

Not sure how any of that other than fixing typos has any impact on our status as a non-profit. I assume the main target was to kill off family memberships for some reason?

On a related note... if family memberships are gone... I sure hope that somehow "lifetime" memberships have not been erased. I would have to dig to get dates, but I am one of what is likely a small handful of folks who paid extra for a lifetime membership a number of years ago. I don't even know if those are still offered.

Per the latest update of our home page, lifetime memberships are still there.

This passed by unanimous vote at the February meeting.

Lifetime memberships are still offered.

Family memberships were removed as our accountant & lawyer recommended us to move to a equitable pricing structure per person. And with families being of differing sizes the membership per head was variable.

The other changes are just expanding some officer numbers to allow us to cross train new folks and allow us to have a sustainable future.
