The guy from Pye Barker is coming this afternoon to inspect/charge/etc these and I wanted to make sure that we're all in agreement about what's getting done.

What we have:

7 large commercial extinguisher holding tubes for worker extinguishers
6 large commercial extinguishers, 3 of which are charged
1 small consumer throw-away extinguisher, charged
1 small commercial extinguisher that sits next to the bus driver seat, charged

What I'm doing:

Have all commercial extinguishers inspected and charged as necessary.
Purchase 1 large commercial extinguisher so all worker extinguisher tubes are filled with inspected, charged, large commercial extinguishers.

Please let me know if we want to do anything different.

Thanks,
Roger

Roger, Thank you for taking care of this. It's been a while.

The 7th (there used to be 8) was left in Nathan's truck at the VIR rallyx (discharged). I'll ping him to see if he minds getting someone in CLT to recharge it.

I'll do the zip-tie trick for the pins like I did for the Duff pit extinguisher.

We are good to go. There are 7 inspected charged large commercial extinguishers in the trailer and a small one next to the driver's seat.

The Pye Barker service tech has added me to his service records (he services three other businesses on my street) and will schedule annual on-site inspections going forward.

Please let me know if any of the extinguishers get discharged. If I know about it, then the service tech will stop by my office and swap it out with a charged unit. Only having 3 out of our 7 extinguishers charged is probably not optimal from a safety perspective.

Nothing like needing something to put a fire out and it not working....

I saw the car next to me in the paddock at an HPDE at CMP on fire (engine bay) and they didn't appear to have an extinguisher handy, so I grabbed one out of the Duff car for them. Another car at VIR had a mechanical issue, parked off track in the grass right after T4, and then started burning, I believe as a result of the exhaust lighting the dry grass under the car. I think it took a while to get an extinguisher to that car. You hardly ever need an extinguisher, but when you do, you really need it.

Indeed, having one handy saved my house from burning down several years ago.
