It just occurred to me that I had not renewed my membership for 2016 so I went ahead and did it here:

Now if the registrar would stop being lazy and confirm people's renewals, we'd be all set.

Bowie handed me the card, but MSR still isn't "confirmed"

I believe that when you convert to lifetime your membership number gets a LT prefix or suffix. I expect MSR membership is updated periodically but not frequently. It is likely a manual process as well. As of last year MSR didn't have my correct LT membership ID. I haven't checked this year yet.

Money can't buy happiness, but somehow it's more comfortable to cry in a Porsche than a Kia.

I am only speculating as its not something I am directly involved in, but know a tiny bit about some of the mechanics and difficulties of the MSR integration. Best bet would be to reach out to current club officers (president, VPs, etc.) via email (contact info listed on main website) to get it resolved. I will say that even with the ability to renew via MSR (a big improvement), membership management (particularly renewals) has been a rough spot for us historically.

Perhaps, Bowie does everything "on paper". Spreadsheets actually, and his data is up-to-date. I'm not 100% sure what things look like behind the curtain at MSR, but if it's like everything else, it's just something someone has to click. And with the volume of users (hundreds, not dozens) things get lost.

Right now, the only thing that blocks is registering for events that check for "active member" -- i.e. Rallyx #2. As keeper of the bus, driver of the bus, setter upper of courses, I don't get charged for rallyx's.

My understanding is that Bowie does everything by hand. That is not a critics, because really the only way he gets renewals or new membership requests is via paper/snail mail or hand delivered by officers. He has a master spreadsheet that he maintains which includes basic info line name, type of membership, join date, last renewal, membership Id. Where things breaks down is when we have multiple avenues for those same tasks. Doing things at the bus at events or Christmas party and the increased potential for that not getting back to Bowie and into that master spreadsheet. With MSR "I think" there is nothing more than manual integration between what is maintained on MSR and with Bowie, so the two can be out of sync. It's also my understanding that while anything can be improved, there are not great options for handling the MSR integration.
