For the last two events (a Rallycross and an Autocross), the bus starting battery has been completely dead. It's relatively new and will take/hold a charge, but there appears to be some kind of residual current draw when the bus is off. You can short a solenoid to use the auxiliary batteries to start it, but if we keep flattening the main battery then it will eventually ruin it. I started looking at the wiring harness, but I don't want to get into that mess, so I took the cheap/easy way out.

The bus now has a battery disconnect switch on the main battery:

If you want to use the bus, then just open the hood and close the switch. When you will not be running the bus for a while, then open the switch. I put a few stickers in the bus to remind users of the battery disconnect switch. Please leave it disconnected when you leave it here so the next person can use it.

Great, I'd also disconnect it if you leave it overnight at the event, but I think that Ricky left it connected overnight at the Rallycross at VIR last weekend and it was fine.

Oh, you'll make sure you connect it. Nobody is worried about anyone forgetting to do THAT part. ;)
