The tag expires in 9 days, and Ricky mentioned annual maintenance.

What do we generally have done to it and what are the logistics? I can take it down the street to Black's (where I get my bus serviced) and get the maintenance done, as well as renewing the tag (assuming the registration is inside it somewhere). Should I do that and someone will write me a check?

Also, what maintenance do you generally have done? I use my bus exclusively for car hauling, so I generally have engine oil/filter, transmission oil/filter, and differential oil replaced, the chassis lubed, and the coolant and brakes checked/changed as necessary.

Do you do anything to the trailer? I check and grease my wheel bearings annually, as well as checking the brake shoes and replacing as necessary. Should I have that done to the THSCC trailer?

Thanks,
Roger

I'd touch base w/ Chris Suich, the former keeper of the bus. He should have some records on what has/hasn't been done in regard to maintenance.

Purple clipboard/box behind the driver seat. I don't know about maintenance records, but the registration was in there last time I looked.

The bus needs to be inspected in order to renew its registration. Once that is done, let Bowie or I know and he can renew the registration.

Thanks for your help and for being so proactive, Roger!

The DMV doesn't care who does it -- they just want their money.

Yes, I can take care of the registration. I need to know what we do for maintenance though. What I do for our bus costs over $400, and I'd be glad to spend as much THSCC $ as we want to spend on bus maintenance, but I don't want there to be any surprises when I give Bowie the receipts and ask for a check.

Usually for the bus we had the oil and filters changed annually and fix any minor repairs.
Items like
new tires
trailer axle bearing repacked
Plugs

Other unusual repairs
coil packs
filler neck repair

Triangle Auto and Truck would perform a NC and DOT inspecction of the bus and trailer separately. Those need to be done to get new tags which Bowie pays for registration after the inspection and then he mails stickers to KOTB.

Jordan took the bus for inspection. Double check with him first.

Black's was where he took it.

Recent maintenance was AC recharge, oil change, trans oil and filter and inspection. We thought about brake fluid, but were worried that the calipers were really rusted that we might break the bleed screws if we tried.

Try a MAPP gas torch on the bleed screws first. It will usually break them loose and you will be able to replace them with new ones. BTDT on my old Z-24 when replacing all the brake lines.

So it's good to go, excepting the brakes, which will need some work. I'll get the trailer brakes checked and renew the tag.

Just found this thread, but yes the bus is good to go. I put the invoice from Black's and inspection paperwork in the center console box, I was not aware there was a bus maintenance clipboard. Checking the trailer brakes would be a good idea too, and knows when the trailer bearings were last greased. I can lend a hand with that if need. Might be good to have another mini bus day when we check out the new inverter...knock it all out at once.

We renewed the tag and dropped the trailer off at the Leonard shop on US1. They've checked it and it needs no work. We'll get back up there Thursday and bring it back to the warehouse. (Next event is the VIR rallyx. Then two weeks later, NCCAR)

I'll check the f'ing printer(s) (which, I'll say again, has never failed in my presence), too.

Yes, there's a clipboard/folder thing in the net on the back of the driver seat. There are service instructions (print outs from forum threads and maybe a wiki), receipts, insurance papers, and the registration in there.
