I've attended all of the club meetings so far this year, expect for the 2 past meetings and I was able to make last nights meeting. I have noticed a bad trend where meeting attendance is dropping and that a lot of the "core" people have dropped off. I know it's not James  I think last night we had 20 or so people at the meeting. So what do we need to do to improve attendance? I did over hear one person say they weren't a fan of the food there. Is this the issue? Is it the open room? Parking?

I'd like to know what needs to be done to improve attendance as this is my monthly sanity meeting where I get to forget about work and talk cars and upcoming events. I'd really like to see more people start attending.... I usually find out something interesting at these meetings. Found out that Carlton loves taxi rides in London 8)

Thoughts?

I have been a poor attender this year mostly from schedule conflicts with work and kid's sports practices, and I have missed it. I enjoy the car talk, too. No probs with food, beer etc although I usually don't get any food anyway.

I like the location fine, and the food is good, even the salads. I just don't often have the 2+ hours available on a Wednesday night. FWIW, I always enjoyed the meetings where we had a guest speaker.

I'm not a fan of the open room but it's not a deal killer for me. Everything else about Randy's is fine (food, beer, etc)

Send out a email reminder? I'm getting older and I forget things.....a lot. I seriously did forget the meeting this month.

I enjoy the club meetings, but with 2 small kids and irregular times I need to work, I find it difficult to make it out. The food is good and the meeting space works. If people are skipping meetings because of the food, their priorities are crooked.

I'm also on the 'forgets constantly' list. Luckily either Laura or Jonell usually remind me.

Solution: One thread and someone posts a meeting reminder (or two) in that thread every month. No discussion. Anyone who wants an email reminder simply "subscribes" to the thread and you'll get an email reminder.

Facebook? I guess you can do that too, but I think people are getting conditioned to ignore FB stuff, personally.

I like these ideas as I do think that with an email, thread, and/or FB reminder you're going to see a few more folks making it out.

Plus with the Facebook reminders, you're going to be increasing awareness and inviting enthusiasts out that aren't yet members of the club, which of course is good.

I can't remember who found Randy's (I think it was Stephen), but it seems pretty much ideal; quick food, friendly and quick service, and good beverages.

I missed a few coaching Spring baseball, but I should be back to regular attendance now that the season's over. The food and venue are fine with me.

Yeah, I think it's more likely reminders than venue. Few places can you get a solid pitcher of something like SW 420 or Peacemaker for $9.99.

The open aspect of it isn't perfect, but I don't mind.

We'll try for some various means of reminders for next month.

I wonder, too, if part of it is the forum. That's not a criticism of the forum at all, I like it. But a great deal of between events conversation happens here, and I wonder if that makes people feel less compelled to go to a meeting.

I don't think so. I've found so many free flowing side conversations develop at the meetings. That's less likely on the forums, although there's been plenty of thread hijacks....
