I actually called a couple of people who I know don't read the forum. I couldn't stand the thought of them arriving at Blincos' and wondering where the heck we were. And, no, they had not heard that the meeting place had changed again.
If anyone here knows someone in that situation....please do the same.
Thanks.

Thank you Gwen. That's the problem w/ looking for a new home, not everyone is made aware. Hopefully we'll find a new place and call it done. I think w/ the current dynamic, everyone should check the main THSCC webpage. THAT will be updated w/ any new meeting locations. I'll use the list serve for the next meeting location.

I just happened upon it.
Shouldn't there be a broadcast email to all members? (What's left of us... )

No, also listed on the main webpage and facebook. You are right, I should have sent to the list serve.

I proposed a listserv as being the best official method of communication a while back, to lots of complaints. I also was told that there used to be a listserv but it wasn't active any more <insert arguments against email here>. Now I hear it's still active? How the heck do I get added to it???

It's not really active. I've been on the listserv for the better part of 10 years. Unless membership has been purged, I haven't seen an email from there for many months.

This. Its funny to try and remember that we used to have the very same long discussions we have here on this forum over the listserv back in the day. Some of those could really fill up the inbox.

There is a sticky at the top of the club discussion forum with instructions on how to join the listserv. :stick:

OK, let the comments roll.... If I had to guess, we're not going back there based on what I saw and also considering we'll loose the room unless we change nights.

Keep in mind that as with all things web forums, you will ALWAYS get more negative feedback than positive. The service was slow at first, but they called in the general manager from home and the bartender started to help and things got better. I for one don't understand the whole thing about it having to be Wednesday. Can we at least give them another chance? I hate to see us keep hopping place to place without even talking to the place about our concerns. They seem interested in our business, the location is great, I suggest we air our complaints with drew and give it another shot.

I didn't mind the place at all. Didn't check out the "open room", and would hate to change nights, but I'd be willing to go back and try the open room....I assume you're not talking about the bar.

Why won't they let us be there on Wednesdays? I checked the thread and didn't see the reason. Service was meh, understaffed despite us knowing we would be there. At least they comp'ed my meal, after waiting for an hour...

The room was a good size, and the location was optimal.

My understanding is that the room is used for darts and/or poker every Wednesdy night. (don't know why tonight was an exception.)

The back, open room was the poker turny. The room might be bigger, but I don't think there are as many seats in there.

Overall, I'd give it a thumbs up; as long as we can get the side room again. If I'm voting with my tummy, I'd say Miltons or Golden Corral.

However, we did pretty much fill the room, so it's possible we'll shortly be right back to "not enough space." The location isn't bad for me, since I work a mile from there -- I40 can be a mess around 6:30, esp if there's something going on at RBC. (Blinco's wasn't bad either... I live a mile from there. :-)) Milton's might be in the same boat; I don't know how many can fit in the back room. GC has plenty of space, but I don't know how much can be closed off. (or if they'll let people in without eating.)

Poker is normally in that room on Wednesdays, yes. He moved poker that night b/c he was excited about the possibility of having us, and wanted to give us a chance to try out what we would be able to use on an alternate night.

The big back room is what would be available to us, or during warmer months, we could have the outside patio available to us instead.

Overall, I like it and the location seems almost ideal despite the usual touch of bumper to bumper on 40. I'm not really a big fan of loosing Wednesday nights (I know people plan stuff around it with family/work) , so I'd be willing to try the open room if the poker/dart night couldn't be moved. Not having Gwen and Bernie there, as well as any other regulars that have been attending meetings regularly a lot longer than I, wouldn't be the same.

FWIW, when we were in the open room last week for the officers' meeting, it wasn't very noisy and may be worth a shot. If there's a big game or something on the tube, it may be a different situation though. As Brice said, folks will probably just leave us and our car talk alone. Two waitstaff seems like a must regardless of where we go.

Who knew it would be so tough to find a restarant that meets our basic guidelines that's willing to take our $$$ and let us drink their beer and eat their food. :P

39 days to test and tune btw. :car:
