rush hour would be great. (ray and i were actually up there today)

could we setup some sort of group pricing for karts if we get there right at 6:30 or something?

Before Brice rewrote my post in regard to finding a new place, one thought was to go to rushhour karting to have our March meeting. The are right off of i40 down hiway 70 and they are a club sponsor. Would you like to hold one of our meetings there? Plenty of room in the restaurant and when I was there a few weeks ago, only a handful of patrons. I can talk to the owner to set it up. do we want to try there? I know this will not be convenient for Gwen and Bernie. Just throwing it out, otherwise I'm looking at backyard bistro as our next location to meet or somewhere in Cary.

Rodney,
You guys are very kind to consider us and the distance we have to driver for our meetings. Of course, it would be great if Durham got put into the equation for a possible meeting spot. However, since more members live in the Raleigh/Cary area, we just expect to continue the pilgrimage to meetings each month. Something pretty central in Raleigh would be realistically best. I'm not very familiar with restaurants/pubs in North Raleigh or I'd be offering suggestions. Bernie did say that RushHour was pretty loud the last time he was there. Maybe not conducive to conducting business.

Well since we've been doing it now for so long we could continue to be gypsies. Rush Hour one month, wine bar one month, Tylers the next.

Just a thought, I know that it makes logistics difficult and we may be hard to find for noobs then.

We had a few meetings there years ago, and I thought it was pretty good (food, beer, karts, location!, etc.). I haven't been in a while, though, so not sure what it's like now.

Why did we stop meeting there? Anybody remember? I'm guessing it was too far for somebody to drive.

Triangle chapter of the Mercedes Club of America has a location that changes each month, and, they don't even have the same format each month. This month's meeting is going to be a tech day at the dealer in Cary. One month is going to be in Sanford, another in Raleigh, another in Durham, they move around on purpose. I think the variety is kind of nice - keeps it from being the same thing, month after month. Of course, it is a FAR smaller operation than THSCC is.

+1 for Rush Hour. For me, karts would offset the extra driving distance from Durham. Definitely would need a group karting rate on meeting night! Who knows, we might have the fastest, most efficient meeting ever if people wanted to kart afterwards.

I think I showed up to Rally Point first and got told that they didn't know where they were going to put us.

The Golden Corral on Glenwood does have a private room with doors they will reserve for groups, another club (NCKFA) I am in meets there sometimes. I really enjoy that my food is paid for when I sit down and that I can go serve myself as often and as quickly (or slowly) as I like.

Likewise, the Crystal Palace Chinese Buffet does the same thing.

I really don't care if there is beer or not, and I am not fussy about food. My major consideration is driving distance from Raleigh, NC.

Crystal Palace is pretty good but I don't remember if they have any banquet rooms

This got me thinking about a place I got once a week for lunch, Hibachi Grill Supreme Buffet on Capital too not far from 440. http://www.hibachi-grill-buffet.com/#!

I called a few minutes ago and spoke to the manager and he said we can have the front banquet room every second Wednesday as they're not usually busy during the weekday evenings. Just another idea...

Is there anything around downtown Durham or near the Tobacco Campus that would be good?

What did everyone think of Randy's Pizza that we went to the night Rudino's gave us the boot? If they gave us the whole side of the restaurant we were on that night, it would be big enough. They have a decent beer selection and cheap pitchers. The location is pretty good and I think they are pretty slow for dinner. I'm going by there tomorrow, I'll be happy to ask.

There are some people (not me) who do not do "ese" food we might want to be aware of. There is a Tyler's Tap Room in Durham though I've been there, I'm not sure if they have a conference room or if so, it would work any better than the one in Apex.

I'm not really ready to give up on Rally Point yet honestly, if we can just get it through the management's head that we are going to be the the second Wednesday and to prepare for it in advance with two dedicated servers, I think it could still work. Once we got all the doors closed, the noise wasn't that bad and the location really works, they did at least have a decent table setup for us this time.

X2, this really isn't a bad idea either, and the location is every bit as convenient for most people as Rally Point and the food ordering system certainly works better for our purposes eliminating the server issue.
