I spoke to the manager at the bistro a while back when this discussion first started. She said they would be happy to have us as long as there is not an event at the RBC center. They have a room that should be able to seat 40 and they have decent food.

I just checked the RBC center schedule and it does not look like they have any events on the 2nd wednesday for the next few months. Wednesday is also 2.75 pint night. It's not much farther for the durham folks than rally point. You should give them a call.

Liz and I just got back from eating at McCall's in Clayton (I hadn't been in a while, Liz had never been). It was just like I remember. Excellent food on the buffet, 2 meeting rooms that can seat 60 people very comfortably, and each room has a couple of 50ish inch TV's, in case we need to use one sometime. Only drawbacks to going there are the whiny bitches from Durham, and it's very quiet, so I'd hear what Rodney was talking about.

Manager says to give them a call if we want to have a meeting, but everyone who shows up must eat, or will be charged $5 for their seat.

To be honest, while I think Drew has tried to accommodate us, right now I vote for another location, but that's my opinion.

I need feedback on Rally Point please....

I wasn't there, but the service issues are similar to what I've experienced at RP with other groups. They may mean well, but execution is not so good. McCalls would be fine as long as they keep the aircraft out

But the $5 question remains Kevin. Do they serve suds? If so, I'm down to eat some 'cue. I really think that we need a buffet (relying on the waitstaff for drinks only is a good thing) and a few taps of something and not too much noise.

Aviator is on the list next time I'm in FV for sure.

No alcohol, but when did this become an alcohol club instead of a car club? We used to meet at Golden Corral when I joined. Never saw any beer there. What if people want to bring their kids to meetings, but don't want to bring them to a bar?

I'm fine with placing the emphasis on beer and food, instead of on the club meeting. It just seemed like people were complaining about noise and service. McCall's solves those problems.

How about we meet at Buffalo Wild Wings? That would be REALLY convenient for Liz and me. Plus, there's plenty of alcohol to choose from, great wings, service has always been great, just a little noisy.

Ok, so, never say never, 'cause who knew Kevin and I would share a common thought? But, I've been kind of wondering this myself. When we met at Golden Corral there was a bar in the nearby strip mall. After the meeting anyone who wanted to hang around went over there for a beer.

Why do we need to "kill two birds with one stone" so to speak? If there's a centrally located place that can accommodate us for dinner and our meeting can't those who want to hang and drink beer go somewhere after? Not necessarily a Golden Corral, but being able to pay for your meal, get want you want and sit down is certainly better than waiting 30 minutes after the meeting in hopes of getting your bill...finally. Bowie and I were discussing this over the phone on Friday. Apparently there are others who think the same thing, but don't go on the forum, so we don't hear from them.

Just my two cent's worth. I just don't get that our meeting place has to be predicated on the best beer selection.

I like beer, so put me in that crowd. I never went to meetings when they were at Golden Corral. When they were at Rudino's, I was interested. I don't necessarily think we have to base it on beer selection, but I like the idea of a place that at least HAS beer. It's a social occasion, and at social events, I enjoy a beer. Not saying I wouldn't go (I'm more active with the club now) but members who might be on the fence will be influenced by that, particularly younger members.

One could just as easily argue that the food part of the equation is equally unneccesary. Why not meet in a conference room somewhere? Because people enjoy eating a meal together beforehand as a social occasion.

My $.02.

Brice,
Your point is well made, regarding food, etc., I'll give you that. It's just that in the past year we've moved our meeting place 4/5 times. I'm beginning to feel like we've turned into a band of Gypsies. It really came to my attention when one of my customers who had just gotten an S2000 and wanted to get involved in a car club, looked at me kind of funny when I invited him to a meeting......then had to add, I'll contact you with the location. Not sure where we're meeting next month.
Didn't really make us sound "premier".
