Between the bus sale and this news, I'd say it was a great meeting last night.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that has a new appreciation for these too: 8)

I looked at the street view too and the looks like a pretty cool site for sure.

Street view shows a decrepit fence along North Graham Hopedale Road and nothing along Hwy70.

Dimensions are very roughly 560, 650, 675, 600 feet (west side, north side, east, south). The south side is along Hwy70. The old train track is below the diagonal. The diagonal is a bit over 900 feet. From looking at street view, there appears to be a center grass median with light poles -- perhaps the train track runs right in the middle of that?

Richard says there's a cable that surrounds the lot. We'll have to invest in several rolls of DO NOT ENTER tape and encircle the whole area save for the exit part.

The tax map shows EXACTLY where the RR tracks are

Image

The tax maps list the site area at 10.24 acres, that is 5 times bigger as the old Greenville site (2 acres) to put it in perspective

This is a great map as it shows two concerns. First, the darker area on the larger triangle is where a drain exists. I'd say there a good 6' in elevation change from the lowest point to far back edge where the trailers are.

The trailers are my second concern. I'd think we could run any time on a Saturday, buy only after 12 on Sunday due to the trailer park and any surrounding churches.

We have a choice for our March event or either day. In the May event, might be possible to hold a 2 day event, one for the buick guys and free runs for us and then hold our main event on Sunday, but only after 12. May have to cap at 120.

Like I said, tons of options and lots to think about....

I've just now started some email threads w/ the Buick folks, so I'll have a better idea in a few days on what they and we expect to happen.

sounds like the two day event even though later would be a good set up for a Novice/buick day on saturday and then reg on sunday.

And there should be no one in the club that should be against helping out with the novice school as we are getting a NEW and good looking site!!

We sold the old bus, so we can buy these:

Rodney, 6" or 6' or elevation change from the dark area to the edge!?!?

Ryan, we need a topological map :).

6 foot, or at least that's what it looked like in the dark. Maybe Les can confirm my assumption. I'll be heading back up in a few weeks to get a better look in the daylight.

If you look at the number marker of 147805 near the tracks and then follow up what looks to be a light path in the sea of dark, about where that white path ends is where there are 2 small drains. The surrounding areas taper down to the drains. Should make for a very interesting setup for on and off camber turns.

Fries with that?

Those are 5' contour lines. That dark look "blotch" is where this entire site drains. Must be a big ass pipe under the ground service that much impervious area.

Yes this map shows there is roughly a 20' change in grade from N Church Street (US70 to Martin Street).

GIS- Its a hell of a tool 8)

I'm also going to guess that in a HEAVY downpour, those drain quickly can become "Lake Clark"

Is there a fence along the backyards of those trailers? I'd hate to see a child wander onto the lot. Also would hate to see a teenager get a "cool" idea and see if he/she can hit a passing car/driver.

Can't control the "cool" teenager issue, but yes, there is an existing 6ft chain link fence that runs the entire length of the back side of the lot. We plan to stay well away from that fence so we incur NO issues related to cars or people.

Yeah, 20' is much closer to what I was thinking, I think I guessed 30' last night.

This is probably true, hopefully won't be an issue.
