So some potential bad news on the Burlington site. While the local police have absolutely no issues w/ us running an event on the parking lot, it seems that Richard has come across some city ordinances that prohibit racing and go-carts w/ in city limits. Richard has contacted a local lawyer to see if they can be granted an exception, but I don’t think this bodes will for this as a long term site. I’ll let you know what I find out as I’m told.

Booooo! Make sure you remind Richard that autocrossing is not technically racing so maybe he can use that angle.

Funny, that's what the lawyer said to say!

So, a bit of good news for the Burlington site. Seems that as part of the investigation to get permission to hold the autox, Richard’s lawyer has stumbled across some zoning maps and it looks like half of the site is autox legal and the other half isn’t. The carving of the zone map doesn’t match the train track orientation, so Richard is now pursuing to have the non-legal side of the site rezoned the same as the legal side.

There is hope!

fixed. Hope it ends up being worthwhile! A nice local site would be a great addition.

edit: mostly kidding here. well, sorta kidding. :? Maybe.

Since a zoning change typically requires approval by the City Council let's hope Richard's community status/pull helps our case.

Well, it's official. No Autox in Burlington for May 5th. Richard stated that the town council canceled the rezoning meeting for March and delayed until the last week of April. We can't afford the risk of waiting until that time to make a decision for the May event. That said, looks like we're in for Sanford for our May 5th event.

Richard stated he was still going to try to complete the rezoning. I said that we're still interested in running at the site, so there's still hope for next year. I'll post back as I hear, but right now the joint Buick/THSCC autox will simply not be this year. To be honest, I was really looking forward to seeing the GN's and GNX's take to the course. That would have been fun.

That being said, will the event remain a Staurday event, on May 5th, or move to Sunday, May 6th?

Sorry, this should be a standard Sunday event, so May 6th.
