Due to the current issues surrounding the nature of testing DOT only rated helmets, the club is going to change the requirements for helmet use.

The officers have decided to change the rules for helmet requirements for autox and rallyx. Our track program has always had more stringent requirements and these rules do NOT apply to track. The following changes are here by presented.

> Snell M, K and SA dated 2000 or newer is allowed until 2015. This will allow 15 year use of the helmet.
> both open and closed face style helmets allowed.
> NO DOT ONLY rated helmets allowed.
> Cut off date is our 3rd event, so we'll have a 2 event grace period. All helmets must meet these requirements starting on the May events for both autox and rallyx.
> This applies to all drivers, including other clubs. I'll contact the other neighboring clubs to make them aware of our changes.
> We will ask the webmasters to include a Tarheel Chirp and list the change on the all main web pages to reflect the helmet requirement change.
> Tech will now include a helmet inspection and a sticker on the helmet. While the sticker states tech for autox, it will be used for both autox and rallyx.

The bus now includes some of the older track helmets that have aged out, so we'll have a gracious plenty loaner helmets for everyone to use. We know this is an added expense, but the safety of our drivers and the club comes first.

Kendt is in contact w/ Apex Performance pricing head socks. Once we have obtained the head socks, we'll set a price and will have these available at the start of the event.

So this awesome, almost-new helmet for sale would work fine for 5 years under the new rules, correct?

With the NCCAR event only 2 weeks away, I wanted to let everyone know that the clubs new helmet requirement becomes law w/ this event. We allowed a grace period up to the May event. At this event, helmets must now be teched and have a THSCC sticker on the helmet. For guests, we'll allow the sticker to be placed on blue tape so the sticker can be removed if so desired.

So, if you haven't pulled the trigger yet on a new helmet, now may be a good time to start shopping :D

Overstock has a Raider SA2005 helmet for $147 shipped. I just got a Large that I'm about to ship back (I found one I liked better on craigslist). Let me know if any of you want it.

http://www.overstock.com/Sports-Toys/Ra ... oduct.html - Looks like they don't have any more Large.

Ram is that an open faced helmet? If it is and it fits Laura's head I'll be interested in it.

Got mine here, http://www.safedrives.com/products.asp?cat=81, for 150 (open face). Nice variety of types and price ranges, and I got mine shipped to me in just a few days. They also have other products they may catch some peoples interests as well.

Don't forget our club sponsor, Apex Performance. It looks like they have some pretty good prices and you get an additional 10% if you tell them you are with THSCC when you call or enter the code "THSCC" online. Looks like they do have open face Pyrotect's for $133 after discount. Linda is really friendly to work with too.

i know, right? no one has any respect for quality these days, they're always trying to cheat and take the cheap/easy way out. i make all of my fake stickers by hand using a fountain tip pen, an airbrush, and high quality glitter.

For Autocross, currently 2000, 2005, 2010 helmets are all accepted (M and SA rated). When the 2015's come out, the 2000's would no longer be acceptable.

For Track, we currently accept SA 2005 and 2010. When the SA 2015 helmets come out, we'll accept SA 2010 and 2015. SA 2005's will no longer be acceptable then.
