And really, Vincent, it's nothing personal. I think there's only one TH "member" everyone knows I'd avoid socializing with, and everyone probably knows who that is.

It sounded like you were adding me to that list.

Hahahaha...no sir. Not even close. There's a very large divide between that list and everyone else.

You guys realize that all of this bickering about "wah, why doesn't everyone come to the Xmas party" and "wah, I don't want to come to the Xmas party" and "wah, I won't talk to member ______" isn't very conducive to the topic at hand which is increasing membership and if anything makes people NOT want to join (oh wait they can't see the forum till they join, that's right) or renew.

Let's go over what has been discussed:

I have talked to Ram and he is in the process of looking into a fully automated paypal system for renewal and new single memberships as well as moving the membership data to a real database. As mentioned, the new family and/or renewal family memberships might not be crystal clear from an automation standpoint, but given they are probably less than 10% of the overall applications, some manual data entry is fine in those cases. Once the first phase is implemented, effort can be put into investigating the family concerns, but in the mean time if 90-95% of our applications/renewals are automated, that's pretty damn good in my book.

At driver's meetings, we will announce that we have membership applications available and to see <blank> after the meeting to join the club. I also think we should mention that those who complete and pay for a new membership on site will get a $5 refund for the current event (and future $5 discounts will be attained in the traditional way by prepaying and preregistering online). We can also mention that you can renew on site as well, but I'd say we not give any perks for doing so.

Advertising. I have already posted on our Facebook page a link to the membership application and requested that those interesting in joining and/or renewing should fill it out and mail it in. When we have a 21st century solution that uses electronic payment and submission of membership applications/renewals, I will update FB again. And FYI for those against Facebook, we heard from 2 out of 40 people at the Test and Tune, that they absolutely would not have come had it not been for the Facebook invite. That's 5% at a TnT. If we get at least that for regular events than it's obviously a good return on investment....let's see (Revenue - Costs)/Costs = INFINITY because costs are 0.

Business cards. If you want some, ask at the events, but if you take them, please be proactive in handing them out and doing your part to promote and advertise the club.

With all these new announcements (helmets, membership stuff) - there should be an 'event script' for the GM to read at each event, no?
Or maybe a pre-recorded message like the airline safety announcements :)

People who don't renew are lost members, and the only "easy" location to renew in person is the Christmas party. That's why the conversation went there, and it is fairly relevant.

I suppose you can maybe renew late at a meeting, but nobody has ever said that, either.

i've tried submitting my ballot via e-mail in the past but that didn't work for me either.

I renewed in person at the November meeting for the subsequent year. And you absolutely can renew at a meeting in the new year...why not? Bowie is always there. And this year, we will be mentioning and accepting on-site membership applications (new and renewals) at the autox and rallyx drivers meeting.

He probably doesn't. He is probably one of the ones that didn't get axed due to it being difficult to police

You were probably nice to Remchak the first time you met him. No act of selfless kindness goes unpunished around here :)

What you can do now is check out the "friends and foes" section in the User Control Panel...
