howdy all!! The local chapter of the BMWCCA is again sponsoring the Tire Rack Street Survival program for young drivers. The event will be held on Saturday, March 5th at the Sanford training center where we hold our autox's. For a general overview on the program, see the link below....

http://www.streetsurvival.org/

THSCC has helped support this effort in the past in respect to supplying both people and equipment as an aid to the BMW folks running the street survival program. I'm looking for the following support folks to help out. I also need to ask for folks to have at least 2 years of autoxing or track under their belt to help out. We need some experienced folks to help out in the following areas.

> folks to over see the different exercises while drivers are on course. Need folks to watch for safety issues and make sure the course stays steady w/ drivers

> instructors. This is where I need folks experienced in either autox or track AND be able to give students feed back on their driving skills. This is not feedback in regard to racing skills, this is for general feedback on braking, turning and car control.

> folks to help set up the course and bring the bus to the site.

We are just now getting started on our needs, so the final numbers are not set at this time. Right now I'm trying to gauge interest from the club to support this great event. Please let me know if you can help out.

Thanks!!

the pre-reg will open up early Feb according to Denis Kingberg, the event chair for the SS. Just keep an eye open for it and I'll post when I know the pre-reg is open.

For those of you that want to help either instruct or help run the exercises, I need for you to send your contact info to the event coordinator, Denis Kingberg. Please be sure to include your preferred contact phone number. Denis can be reached at dkingberg@nc.rr.com and please CC me at olds350@nc.rr.com

If you want to be an instructor, please include a very brief history of your experience in autox/track. I think there is going to be a gracious plenty instructors and they'll be looking for folks w/ a good amount of seat time.

Thanks!!!!

you never know.... Please send Denis your info. Even if you don't instruct, we can probably use your help running the different elements. I've done that before and it's fun plus you get to talk to all the students as they come to the element start lines. Fun to watch the attitudes change during the day as they become more comfortable w/ how the car handles.

We'll rotate folks around so you're not stuck at the same element all day, or for that matter, we'll be happy if you can even work a 1/2 day.

This is a great event, so come on out!

howdy all....

If you have been waiting to sign up and get your younger driver enrolled, go do it now. The registration is open and filling up fast. I think several of you were waiting, so pull the trigger.

We are also still in need of course workers. I'm going to be working the course myself and being a stand by instructor. This is REALLY a great event to support, so if you can make it, please send your emails of intent to Denis Kingberg at dkingberg@nc.rr.com .

I'm still going to need an assist w/ the bus. My mom's b-day is that weekend as well, so I need to stay in Sanford after the event. I know the bus is going to it's first rallyx directly after the SS, so if you can help out w/ the bus, please get up w/ me and let's work out the details.
