I wanted to throw this out for consideration, so please respond back if you think this is a good or bad idea. In light of the recent news articles on dwindling food donations, I would like to recommend that we consider a food drive as part of the upcoming Christmas party. This link has the information of needed items per the eastern part of the NC Food Bank...

http://content.foodbankcenc.org/getinvo ... dDrive.asp

We can get a little more organized over the next few days, but right now I want to gauge interest more than anything else.

on top of that, we can donate our leftovers to a nearby shelter or wherever they can accept it. (thats if there are any leftovers)

Sounds like a good gift of the season idea to me, too.
The website asks for the donations to be delivered if possible. If needed I could drive the truck to the party and haul off the loot. The only down side would be to decide which facility gets the donation...I live in Raleigh, so that is probably closest for me to deliver.

ok, I wanted to get some feedback on this effort and it looks like this is getting a luke warm reception. I need to let the food bank know in the next day or so we are doing this.

I'd like to say we're in to support the foodbank considering donations are low this year. If you can help support this, please bring a few items to the party. Needed items are listed in the link in the first post. Between Charlie and myself, we'll figure out someway to get this over to the foodbank.

considering the lack of response to this post, we will not be doing a food drive at the party.

LAME! - guess I'm guilty of not responding too, though

How hard is it to bring some cans of food?

Any chance to send out emails?

Sorry I didn't post either. I thought it was a go. I am planning on bringing some cans and have a cardboard box I'm bringing too to make it easier for transporting.

I dropped off the food and cash yesterday at the NC food bank. On behalf of the THSCC, we donated $31 bucks in cash and over 80lbs of food. Thank you all for supporting the NC food bank. I'm sure someone will enjoy our efforts.
