UPDATED - Location information below

We'll start Tech'ing cars at 9:00 AM, it'd be great if most folks could arrive around then. Thanks!

----------------------------------------------------------------

It's that time of year again - time to solicit for volunteers to support the annual SMARTT car challenge (formerly the EV Challenge). For those who don't know, for the last ~15 years THSCC has hosted an annual mini-Autocross competition for a handful of High School teams who have built/modified Electric cars. We make a little money for the club, and "give back" a bit to the community/kids.

This year's competition will be held at SAS in Cary, and we're looking to get ~12 volunteers to come out to help work course and safety. A few of us will be there really early, but the majority won't need to show up until 9:00. I'd love to get a couple folks who know the ins and outs of the Rallycross timing computer to be there to work T&S, if possible.

Note that we'll be wrapped up by 12:30 or so.

We realize this event will be running in parallel to the non-points Jimmy-V event on Saturday the 15th. We will be running a tighter schedule for the SMARTT challenge event on Saturday morning to accommodate those folks who still want to make it down to the Sanford event. As a bonus, we will make arrangements for you to get all your runs in at Sanford, and you will not have any additional worker assignment for that day. We will also credit you a free entry into an Autocross, Rallycross, or $20 off a Track event for helping out.

Please note in your responses below if you will plan on attending the JimmyV event in Sanford... as we will give preference to "using" those folks who won't have conflicts with the Jimmy-V event, if we have more volunteers than necessary

Current List of Volunteers:
Dustin Fredrickson
Charlie Monroe
Chris Suich
Rob Lupella
Michael Westerfield
Jason and Jesse
Carl and Emmie
Rodney and Jordan Wright
Andrew Jonell
Michael C.

Location/Directions
SAS Main Campus
take I-40 to Harrison Blvd in Cary
go South on Harrison for ~0.5 blocks, turn left onto SAS Campus Drive.
Check in at the SAS security gate, and let them know you are with THSCC.
Turn right onto Matrix drive, which I believe is the first main road intersection.
Take the first right that's NOT a parking lot - ~1-2 tenths of a mile.
The lot we are using is up the hill to the right, but it will be blocked off by the time you get there.

See this map. The lot is right next to the tennis courts, and across from the soccer fields, just to the right of the "blue dot" on the map.

Parking for us will likely be to the lot to the lower left of the building indicated at the blue dot. There's a gate that prevents "easy" entry to this lot, from the tennis court side, but there should be somebody there to let you through.

Don't know TS98.
Not planning on going to Jimmy V Saturday.

Wouldn't mind helping with course set up.

Yup, still need a few more. There are likely to be ~250 people at this event - mostly spectators as there are only about 16-20 cars running - so we will need a few folks just making sure the crowds stay safe. Note that we will have some volunteers/security from SAS helping in this regard as well.

Can you make it?

I can be there if there's a safe place for my daughter walking our dog on a leash to be out of everyone's way.

We'll be wrapped up by 12:30 or so - the actual competition section is only slated to take ~1.5 hrs. The rest is just course setup, safety, and tech stuff....

I was planning to do tech at Saturday's Jimmy V event, then return home. I could help out at the EV challenge instead if someone would rather cover tech at the V event?
