Hello everyone,
Let me say this first so it doesn't get lost in the fray...
without an event chair there will be no event.

April 18th is approaching and we have no event chair for this event. The event is a little over 3 weeks away. Graphics need to be designed 2 weeks before the event so it can go to the print shop.

We need some RallyX drivers to step up and give back to the club by chairing an event. Your event fees are waived. I know it's not a lot, but it's something.

Major responsibility of the chair
    Magnet graphics design
Get the bus to the site
    Layout and setup a course
    Help run the event.

Now Four Oaks is a pretty easy event to setup, because it is a semi-permanent course. Just follow Kevin's tracks throw out a few cones and presto, a RallyX course. Hmmm, almost sounds like an event name.

Sorry for the bluntness, but it is getting frustrating always having to beg for Event Chairs.
Ash and I have set the schedule and reserved the sites but, (and I'll say it again...) without a chair there will be no event.

Please consider chairing and event.

You don't even have to get the bus to the site (and back) yourself. You just need to make sure it's taken care of.

Since I don't have to do the bus myself, I'll do it. I'll work on the graphics tomorrow. Who do I send them to?

:P :P :P

on a side note:

Ray and I are available to help setup/prepare/do whatever the day before or whenever to hopefully get this event running.

If you guys need help on anything let one of us know and we'll try our best to help.

we were out there a few days ago, like mentioned, its pretty much already setup. i wanna say like 90% setup with cones. so this should be an easy one.

The day before will be too late. Let's do it the weekend before. There's going to be lots of manual labor without a tractor. Which day will everyone be available?

Finished graphics go to Vincent Keene. If you need any assistance with the graphics, shoot me an e-mail at rally@thscc.com

Thanks Walter! 8)

Also, just wanted to say that we don't ever need to cancel an event at Four Oaks due to lack of event chairs. The courses practically set themselves up, I don't think anybody really cares whether there's a name or dash plaque, and somebody will get the bus there somehow. Just wanted to point that out.

PS from Liz - suck it up and be a VP. :whip:

Well I for one do not want to set the precedent that events just happen all by themselves either. We need event chairs to step up and do certain tasks in order for the events to happen. The VPs do their part, we need event charis to step up and do their part too. Besides, it's not like it's hard to chair an event.

I'm happy to be the chair. I've done an autocross, but not a rallycross. I should have done one sooner. I can set up on Good Friday or Easter Sunday. My wife works Saturday and I have to babysit my little girls and grandaughter.

How long does set up take? I can't imagine it being long for a rallycross at Four Oaks. There shouldn't be grass to cut this time of year.

Where is the bus and who can bring it to Four Oaks? Who is willing to get it back to where it resides?

I'll be there the weekend before for cleanup as per Kevin's request.

Well we either have the 4/5th weekend or the 11/12th weekend.

looks like the 11/12th would work best for folks. ?

I will be at the Lemons Race on April 4th and 5th. That leaves Good Friday and Easter.

Who is bringing the bus? That will determine when we set up. I'd rather do it Friday the 10th in the afternoon, but Sunday is OK.
I can come late on Saturday the 11th too.

I can't see how this is going to take very long. Kevin, correct me if I am wrong.

Hence my reasoning for saying there's no need to cancel just because you don't have an official event chair. Thanks for backing up my point. :D

Anyway... I'll take a good look at the field and see what needs to be done, then let you guys know. There have been several play days out there recently, so it's in decent shape where the courses go. We'll just need to smooth out some areas & shift some cones, make space for & set up worker stations, and do the usual pit/grid/start/finish/etc. setup as far as I know. There's still a lot of debris in some places, so we'll need to get rid of some of that where we plan to use the space. And yes, there is grass to cut. And the tractor is leaking lots of oil. And the lawn mower's transmission died.
