Kieran and I were there helping Matthew with the promo and, with Bob, were first to the scene after the roll. They were both still strapped in waiting for us with car resting on the driver's side. Matthew was hoping we'd be able to roll them upright but the car was on a slight slope and we couldn't push it over.
So, I got them extracted: Matthew first so that he could climb up past his passenger and out her window. Then I worked with Dana to get her safely out. Wanted to be sure she would not get hurt when the harness was released and she dropped. All went well and she was very cool about the whole thing. I was the one who strapped her into the car and carefully explained about the HANS and helmet and harness. I also advised her that, in the extremely unlikely event that the car has an unplanned excursion, she should grab the harness to keep her arms from flailing. She thanked me later.
Bob and Matthew were understandably "concerned". Matthew's optimistic side eventually bubbled to the surface when he later remarked that he'd been wondering what car & class to run next season and that now he knows.
We all then had a blast at VIR's kart track - way better than the indoor carts here in Raleigh.
