September 22nd RallyX - "No Cone Zone"

YaY!

The course is set up and I think it's going to be a fast fun RallyX. But remember, the name is 'No Cone Zone', not because there are no cones, but because you should not hit any of them!

(Watch me take out a whole bunch now.)

Malia, If you're still hanging out at your computer, you can still go prereg all you guys. Carl is out (8:30p) trying to see if some of his wheels will fit on the "new" Sentra, so it'll be a little bit yet before he does the prereg download and locks the file.

Great event today. The courses were fun- we set about with an intent to make them really fast but we didn't succeed, I'd say it only ended up being kinda fast. Guess we should have done some test runs on the course.

We had only 28 drivers, and that was really nice because the heats went quickly. About half the drivers were in SU2 so the run group split was good, and most of the cars had 2-3 drivers so they all got their runs done in about the same amount of time, so that worked out pretty well.

It was sunny and not-too-hot, but OCS didn't seem to get any of the recent rain so it was pretty darn dusty again. Fortunately, with only 28 drivers we were not getting killed by the launch interval and still managed to finish up timed runs before 3, with awards around 3:30.

Simon and Keiran Wright had a DMS strut fail (collapse) on an early run, ending their day. They chose to pack up and leave rather than try to finish their runs in another car, and we were able to accommodate one of their other co-drivers in the new Fisher Sentra.

Speaking of which, it had a fine first outing, surviving its initial event with no troubles and 3 drivers. Emmie was ahead of me at the lunch break, along with VK and Chris Suich, but I was able to take time back in the afternoon and finish up 2nd in SU2. But I didn't have anything for SU2 winner Eric Adams, who was (again) 2nd overall behind Dustin Fredrickson.

Thanks to Ash Nelson for being a great event chair (check it out- we had course maps this time! :-)

) and hard worker, also to Keith Strassel and Pete Guthrie who helped set up yesterday, and of course my co-VP Chris who brought the bus and also brought valuable brain cells to the course design effort. :-)

Results should be up sometime a bit later this evening, I'll post here when they're available.

It was loads of fun. I broke an exhaust mount. And possibly a motor mount and a suspension part(weird handling on the way home) Still loads of fun.

Also fun, Vincent thought the car with an open pipe, lots of stickers, and no bumpers was the ideal machine to conceal his "illegal" run to Bernies in the General. Must have been a case of, "I don't need to be faster than the bear, just faster than you."

I had a blast and I hope everyone else did too! Thanks for having confidence in me as an event chair with only, let's see here... one rallyX under my belt

I couldn't have done it without the tremendous support from my co-chair and RallyX VP Carl, and the help with course design and setup from Chris, Pete and Keith.

Thanks to everyone who came out and participated! I hope to see you next weekend for the TSD Rallye! :mrgreen:

The speedo isn't working in the General so I was just keeping pace with Ash. I tried not to accelerate more than needed, but uphill I had to and it was really freaking loud.

This weekend was GREAT (had to put it in caps for Vincent)

I had a blast and even beat Dad! I think dusty is an understatement but it made me get off my bum today and clean out the inside of my car. Had to change the water in the bucket 4 times and we run with the windows up! I think this is the highest I have ever finished an event! Top 10 who cares if there were only 27 people!

Also, if anyone lost a gray water bottle it is now at the Fredrickson house.

I had a great time too - although I think I'm *still* getting dust out of my nose!

The slaloms were a whole new challenge after only doing the "Beat the Heat" event - I think I spent the whole morning chasing the steering wheel. And no, I wasn't trying to be hardcore running with the window down - I was just too stupid to ask if the window rolled up!

Vincent was really helpful in the ride-alongs, although I wished I'd watched his runs from inside the car first (I've got to take charge of the rotation rather than reacting to it so much). Thanks again VK for letting me drive! And thanks to everyone who put on the event!

Fortunately we've located a loaner shock from another Spec Focus owner and he's just a few minutes off our journey to Black River Stages Rally this weekend.

I would say you have bad luck, but to have this stuff happen at a rallyx rather than the stage rallies has to be best example of a dark-cloud-silver-lining I've heard of!

i might be interested in opting you into my seat for next season. certainly less expensive than purchasing your own car.
