It was a nice sunny day, though a unrelenting breeze made it seem colder than it should have. The courses were fun, though the first heat to run on each course had to deal with particularly slick conditions, as there were several water/mud holes...

edit: still need to correct the DNF time from 2:00 down to 1:30, so new files will be going up at some point, hopefully tonight.

Dude, who opened up the worm hole for Vincent in the morning?

Sorry I couldnt make it, I was home burning a tank of gas in under 100 miles trying to tune these damn throttle bodies.

Thanks again to Carl for letting me drive his car. I had a blast and managed to get some interesting data and video of our runs.

The video has a slight glare issue with one of the vents on the dash but, despite that, I thought it turned out pretty good. Considering we didn't have any way to verify the camera's image or aim before we started recording, it actually turned out better than I expected. I'll have to work on a sound solution as the built-in mic wasn't quite sensitive enough. That may have something to do with the fact that we wedged the recording unit between the seat and the center console but I have a feeling an external mic is probably a better solution anyway.

I've just started analyzing the data we recorded for our runs and it is really illuminating to see where the time went. I wasn't sure how useful it may be for rally-x but after taking a quick peek at it yesterday, it's clear it will be very useful-- especially with multiple-driver cars. When I figure out a little more of what I'm doing, I'll try to figure out a way to post the data if anybody is interested.

Thanks to everybody for their hard work putting on the event!

Jim

Just to publicly make up for all the :P 's that I pointed at Vincent when Rob & co. were kicking his ass, here's something for yesterday...

No cones, smart driving, consistent... great job. I told you it wasn't the car's fault!

And people still say the General is a POS. :? I wish my track car would hold up that well!

BTW, all the smoke is just an illusion to make people think the General is not that fast.

Here's my in-car video from the rallycross. Warning it's 28MB!

Run #3 was embarrasing as I got stuck in the mud puddle even with rally tires!

Simon

Edit to fix bogus quote in url.

Remove the %22 at the end of it.

Or make with the clicky.

Maybe an ITR in DS.

Did the pic of me giving you the "L" sign en route to DNFing come out?

Jonathan Taylor (aka Rallyboy) put some pix up here - a couple pretty nice ones in there including this one, which I assume was taken at the little "yump"...
