Let's hear your opinions:
  • Site in general?
  • Surface?
  • Spectators?
  • Potential for future events?
  • Anything else?

I really enjoyed the site. When the surface is dry it will be great. I love that rutting is not an issue like it is on our other two sites. The size and shape lend themselves nicely and I think we should have more events there in the future.

I think it should be a regular stop on our schedule for two events a year. It was really nice to have a supporting host and some promotion of the event! I would like to know if OCS has any ideas about how to expand rallycross as a spectator event.

I'll echo what Keith said -- the clay is SLICK when a little damp! I think course design can minimize that a little. It would be a great "drought" site :) But even the uber slick sections were entertaining and challenging. The course flow today and the elevation changes are a lot of fun.

Site in general-- Nice layout and neat elevation changes.
Surface--- Some kinda slick when damp but didn't rut badly.
Spectators--- Had a fair number of folks watching from the road in addition to the ones that attended at the site.

Potential for future events----Most definately

Anything else---its only ten minutes from my house.. Of course I liked it

Site in general - Great! Well worth my 2 hour drive to get there. Stephen also mentioned we could switch the grid to the opposite end and have another totally different configuration...cool. We have mulitple entrances so I think that would work just fine. Lots of different course designs are possible there IMO.

Surface - Slick, but lots of fun. I swear it was like driving on playdough. Didn't rut-up like our other sites. The morning times actually got faster for us 2WD folks.

Spectators - It was cool to people standing for 6 hours to watch us run. I don't know how viable the idea of charging admission will be though. We aren't "racing" each other like the OCS fans are used to seeing on Saturday nights.

Potential for future events - I agree with Mike. We should make it a regular stop on the THSCC Rallycross Tour.

Other comments - The "roach coach" food was pretty darn good. I prefer Christine touching my weiner, but this was a good substitute in her abscence. Also the site owners seemed to really want us there which is very cool in my book.

Summary - I can't wait to go back!

I have no point of reference but it was loads of fun.
Nice to have a concession and people watching.

Chuck, sorry I didn't get to meet you in person. I did watch quite a few of your runs though. Your suspension setup looks way too STIFF for RX. What spring rates are you running? Are you running swaybars?

I have Bilstein sports with H&R cross springs, 22mm bar in the front, and 19mm in the back.

I am going to pull the front bar next time and I might do some junkyard scrounging for some rabbit springs and strut housings so I can make a rallyX suspension.
Steve(Stephen?) told me you thought the setup is to stiff. And my first reaction was to say it would be to much work to swap it back and forth for auto X and rally X but the more I think about it, the more I think it is not really that big a deal as long as I have complete units to swap. I think some inexpensive HD shocks with stock length springs out of a Rabbit would give me more travel and compliance for a small investment But I will also need to budget in some alignment tools
I am also going to tube the tires so I can run less pressure and get more bite

The swaybars limit the suspension's travel and are detrimental for RX. The same goes for the stiffer springs. I just wanted to mention it in case you didn't know. When we started this three years ago that was one of the tips Anders and the other reall rally guys gave us.

Tubes are the way to go. The General has yet to debead a tire after three years and MANY runs.

So does this mean that the General is Un-limited (not limited by sway bars)?
That sounds like we should have just let the dang thing fall off of the Dirtmaster....next year for sure.

I probably should have gone ahead and pulled the bar but I just put the car back together and wanted to see how it did with my autocross set up. (Would be nice to just swap tires :) )

I will be back for sure, I have to work on figuring out how the car likes to turn in the loose. I was losing a lot of time getting wide in the 180s.

Maureen and I had a great time at OCS. It was different than sandy courses but the slick track was great fun to drive.

I really hope we can make it a regular site.

Maureen especially liked it when I got the car stuck. Thanks to all who pushed me out.

And thanks to everyone that worked to make the event happen.
