And I still say a 400hp Mustang is going to get stomped by a 150hp - and probably 71hp - fwd car, regardless of LSD or no LSD. If you guys don't think front engine/rwd is at the worst disadvantage, bring one rallyxing next year. :D

What he said.[/quote]

I had a lot of fun in the BMW last year. I have to say it made me a better driver. The biggest problem, IMO, of front engine/rear drive was CAR PLACEMENT! It was just about impossible to predict where the front of the car was going to end up at any time. The oversteer in itself was actually manageable -- the rear was always in the loose stuff. But there is something about those front tires, usually on more grippy surfaces on the inside of the corner, *not* spinning, that made them hook up at seemingly random times. With FWD and AWD, the front wheels are always slightly spinning which helps with trajectory management.

You really really have to have fast hands in a RWD car and be ready for those idle front wheels to change directions instantly. There is a level of steering wheel insanity in RWD that just isn't required when the front tires are slipping in FWD and AWD :)

I am sure this is true.
I don't know how Mike rallycrossed a BMW last year. He was at a definite disadvantage.

That insanity leads to the grin factor which results in a euphoric feeling that causes you to not look at your times.

According to the South Korean salesman at Southern States, The Subaru, World Rally Championship, Symmetrical AWD makes you feel like a naked warrior clothed only with your sword.

Forester XT + Forester STi suspension + rally tires + decent driving = everyone else being owned.

You get the suspension, I'll help you install it, and I'll provide the rally tires and the driving.

Don't go larger on the sway bars for rallycrossing. Leave them stock. I found out the hard way with my WRX by putting 27mm front bar and 24mm rear bar. The larger the bar the more it limits independant wheel travel which you want to go faster over uneven terrain.

I'm running completely swaybarless on the RS - it's a bit more comfortable than stock daily driving it just washes out a bit more than normal so if you drive calm on the street and leave the racing to events running barless is great all the time.

Kevin's STi suspension idea works and works well. It's pretty amazing how much more controlled the car is over bumps. I think Kevin's suspension with some alignment changes and no bars would be the ultimate budget rallyx suspension.
