So should we go ahead and put this on the calendar for August 5th and open up registration?

Maybe we can attach orange spray paint cans to their rear bumpers and then let them loose. Kinda like the Air Force Blue Devils and their smoke but on the ground. Then we all go out and walk the course to see the MW and/or KA lines.

:P

More seriously, I've been developig my ability to predict or anticipate the course changes during the walk but I'm often wrong. I also try to watch cars going through deteriorating elements before my runs and amend the plan accordingly. It's going to be hard to teach line modification simply because every course and every run is always changing. Seat time!

Did you decide on what it was going to be? I might take the RS out or beg for seat time in a RB.

Maybe an ITR in DS.

Open it up, definitely. If we dont have enough interest, we can cancel. Else, I think it is a good way too see the interest.

I will be there instructing/being instructed.

How about the following info:

THSCC Rallycross School
August 5, 2006
Four Oaks, NC

All levels of rallycrosser are welcome. Format is yet to be fully sorted out, but we'll have advanced drivers teaching mid-level drivers teaching novices. There will be at least 2 courses, possibly 3, and all drivers will get several runs on each course. There will also be a lunchtime question & answer session.

Lunch will be provided by Christine Allen in the form of subs, chips, dessert and drink for an extra fee.

Gate opens at 7AM
Registration from 8AM to 9AM
Drivers' meeting at 9AM
Course walk and discussion after drivers' meeting
First car off at 10AM
Break for lunch around noonish
And we'll see where we go from there based on how the morning went.

I can create an event and open it for registration, but I'd like to see some more info about this event appear sometime soon, like:
  • number of students total/in each group
  • number of instructors in each group
  • call for instructors
  • clarification of format
  • rough idea of intended stations/lessons
In addition, I'd like whoever is chairing this to work with me and Kevin to come up with a more detailed lesson plan, including talking/teaching points for instructors at each level.

What I don't want to have happen is everyone shows up on event day, and there are a couple of courses marked out and that's it, and everyone ad libs the whole thing.

Once again, I think that Cosby and I will have this on lock down for event planning.... that is of course unless anyone else wants to step up.....

If you pick a free weekend on my calendar I would chair this format :)

How about it, Mike? Are you free that weekend? I don't like your format, but are you willing to chair a school providing more seat time for the students?

OK, registration is now open online. I made the entry fee $40 and put a limit of 25 entries on it (both subject to change still).

If you plan to come, either as an instructor or student or both, please sign up! We'll sort you into the right category ourselves... ;-)

Thanks!

I would like to come but am not sure if I will have the motor back in. It should be together by the end of the 30th. Should I just hold off on sign up and hope there is a spot or sign up and unregister if I haven't finished by the 30th?

Sign up now and unregister if you can't make it. But please don't forget to unregister!

The event is open now at http://thscc.com/rallycross/prereg_rallyx.html and I hope everyone who plans to come will sign up promptly, including instructors. While the event is open to everyone (ie. no passcode), I do want to give Tarheelers a good first crack at it before announcing it on all the other forums. But with only 2.5 weeks left to go, I can't afford to wait too long, especially if we don't seem to be getting entries.

Thanks!

Here's what I'm going to do. I'll be there most likely, but will only drive if we haven't hit the 25 limit. If we have hit it, then I'll just hang out and help like normal. That way some others who may want to learn how to do stuff will have the opportunity. :D

Besides, I may still be unpacking then.
