Took Christine for several laps when we got home from work. Had to change wheels afterward so I could clean all the mud out.

I tried to hit one watersplash 3 times before I finally went from a different angle and actually got it - street tires don't steer real good in mud.

me and PJ didnt make it out cuz our car is busssteedd. it just needs new motor mounts and we've been too busy to mess w/ that car. we've spent most time taking his entire R32 apart installing guages. but today we're going to pick up some performance mounts for the All-Terrain from Joe and she should be ready to roll after Saturday. so we'll be ready for next time.

are there rallyx's in the winter? maybe if it snows or something we could go play in Kevin's field :P

MOPAR OR NO CAR!!!

FWIW, from the perspective of someone who attended one rallyX so far, I'll offer the following feedback. (BTW, I attended the non-points event in July and rented a spot in the Dirtmaster.)

The ability to rent a ride is fantastic - it gives those of us who don't want to risk damaging their daily driver an opportunity to try rallyX. Kudos to the folks who offer up their cars for rent to the general population!

Even though both FWD and off-road driving are completely new ground for me, I had an absolute blast driving. Working, OTOH, is what has me questioning when I'll do it again. The combination of standing out there in extreme heat and dust, along with spending a lot more time working (2 heats) than driving definitely detracted a lot from the fun for me. Call me a wussy / fair weather driver, whatever, but I'm sure the next time I participate will be a cooler day.

Also, like several other folks mentioned, if I have to choose between autocross, time trials, and rallycross, I'd choose them all! Seriously, at this point, rallycross ranks somewhat lower than the other two in my book (not to say that won't change after a few more rallycrosses). For those of us with young families at home, choices often have to be made.

After attending one THSCC rallycross, I'm very impressed with how well organized such a young program has become. In true THSCC fashion, THSCC's rallycross program is excellent, and it's clear that several key people have put a lot of effort into making it work so well. I don't think the lack of attendance has anything to do with the program needing improvement, I'd bet it's more to do with people hesitating to take the leap into such an unfamiliar driving environment and/or the fear of damaging their car (or reluctance to arrange to rent a ride) and/or the crazy hot and dry conditions we've had the past few months.

Well, you did show up to the rallycross with the worst weather this year, and the only one where SO2/SO4 drivers outnumbered the SU2's--so you kind of got boned.

As to working 2 heats, this could get to be kind of a vicious circle. If we consistently had 50-55 drivers, it might well be possible to only work one heat. But if working 2 heats is an issue that keeps folks from coming out, the problem's not going to get solved. :?

Carl informed me that I can bring the Silverado out to play in the dirt. I always enjoyed watching those SCORE trucks

dude, if you bring the chevy i might need to join in the fun. unfortunately @ 8K lbs. i wonder how competitive i could be. not to mention the course damage, and it would take 30 minutes to unload my crap. sorry Jim, i might need to rethink this one.
