Phillip - I got some 94 Legacy Turbo wheels (they won't fit a WRX). I'd say about 4 seconds per morning run was due to tires, and about 2 seconds was due to driving the course better. In the afternoon, I dropped a couple of seconds per run due to driving the course better; the tires made no noticeable difference in the PM. I actually figured out most of the quick lines & techniques this time, and could remember where the course went & what I could do in most places.

The car was in 2nd gear once I left the start, and the gearing was great - I think I popped the rev limiter once on a couple of afternoon runs, and the torque coming out of corners was great. I did downshift to 1st on a morning run when I got slightly off line & wanted to get it back on & out of the corner pretty quick. I actually think that on this course a WRX with rally tires should be faster than a 2.5RS - there's a lot of acceleration room in places, and as long as you know what you're doing you won't lose any time in corners. But an STi on rally tires...

As I recall, one of y'all had to get pushed up the incline toward the fire tower in that car in the morning because it was so muddy.

Thanks, Phillip.

A certain moderator thought that something I said sounded cocky, so he edited it. I don't remember what I said, but I don't remember talking any trash...

Well, I won't be making it on Saturday. Cobb did a firmware update on the AccessPorts to seperate the maps between the 2004 and 2005 model years. There has been some stalling issues with some 2004 WRXs since they switched over to using the 2005 model year mapping.

I reprogrammed my AccessPort and installed the new 2004 model year maps and reflashed the ECU with the Stage2 base map. My car wouldn't start. The only thing the AccessPort would let me do is revert back to stock again, so I did. Car started this time but like the fool I am I tried to flash the ECU once again with a different map. Car wouldn't start again. AccessPort wouldn't communicate with ECU at all this time. Probably fried the ECU somehow. :boohoo: Accessport and ECU are on their way to Cobb Tuning. Ordered another ECU today from Prestige Subaru in Asheville, NC (don't really want my local dealership to know). The closest ECU was in Denver so it will be Monday at the earliest before it comes in. Dead WRX in the driveway (that sounds like a good blues song title  ).

I was really looking forward to coming up to NC and playing around with you guys. And of course seeing the rally tires in action. Let me know how things went. Ya'll have fun.

Well that's a drag Phillip. :( It's always a blast racing against you (even though I don't have a chance in hell to beat you it's still fun  ) It just won't be the same with one less person between me and 1st. Good luck and see you next time.

Nooooo!!!!

I hope you get everything worked out & don't get screwed financially on this... :(

Wish you could make it to the rallycross, too - I was going to use you as a standard to see how much faster the rally tires are. We always have some pretty close times, so if I was suddenly 2 seconds faster than you...

So who's going to step up? Cosby? (j/k - YOU CAN DO EET!!!)
