As some of you may have been aware, Matthew has succeeded in turning his painted, but otherwise bare, shell of a WRX into a (stock-class) rally car in the last 2 weeks. He and fellow THSCC member Eric Adams then trailered the car up to the upper tip of Michigan's Upper Penninsula, and after a nasty night of racing through thunderstorms, Matthew and codriver Marc Goldfarb have worked their way up to 7th place overall (out of 67).

If you're interested in following the action, (semi) live updates are available at

With 2 stages left to go, MJ's moved up to 6th overall (1st in class by about 2 minutes. He's 4.5 minutes out of 5th place and almost 2 minutes ahead of 7th, so barring some disaster that is where he should finish.

He and veteran codriver Marc Goldfarb were 5th fastest on the Brockway Mountain hillclimb stage- I can't wait to see their video!

C'mon Matthew! :cheer:

I just got a call from Matthew, letting me know that he did in fact win PGT and finish 6th overall. He said he was beat- in his words, "this was not the event to learn AWD on!" He said his FWD driving style did not translate well, but Marc Goldfarb had a lot of AWD experience and was able to make some suggestions on suspension setup.

He wanted me to pass along the news to y'all, along with "100 thanks" to all the folks who've helped him out during this rush build-up project!

If you're interested in seeing a photo log of the build up, you can check out www.carolinars.com. I'm sure a press release will be coming out in the next day or so, too!

Spot on!

Carl,
The link should be http://www.carolinars.com with no period at the end.

Congrats Matthew! Great result, truly at the top of all reasonable expectation.
