This fellow apparently doesn't know the difference between a Tercel and a Supra. So it's a $170 Toyota Supra, 1985. And it's in Benson, which is just the next stop over from the Four Oaks rallycross site!!!

The guy says it is a 4 cylinder motor. If so then it is not a Supra. It may be a Celica with Supra flairs put on it. He still has no bids.

The Celica GT had virtually the same front end with a 4 banger. It does not matter which flavor it is the car is an evenly heavier pig than the early Celicas.

The guy claims he doesn't know much about the car, that's pretty obvious. It is 100% Supra (no 4 cylinder there). The front end is supra specific.

At $170, it's actually a steal.

Same guy who called it a Tercel. Wonder if he's ever even opened the hood.

I'm not sure what I'm driving.
Maybe an ITR in DS.
Or half-assed STX prepped 330.

OK, I was magnetically drawn to this car. Went to visit it today (had to go to Coats only 7 mi. away). This car is a piece of work. Body is pretty straight with a very little rust on the bottom of the lift gate. The interior used to be.... That is to say rough, there are seats and carpet, but that's it. The car had been driven from Fayetville and stopped in Bension due to overheating. The towing company that holds the title just wants to dump the car. First cash offer takes it. I could't convince Pete that he wanted a nice "summer project", so I had to pass. If I still had the Datsun Z car I would have bought the car just for the 14x7 alloy wheels.
Who wants to become partners in another rally beater SO rear wheel drive? Miles are yor out there?

So, was it the 6 cyl?

I wonder if it would just need a radiator flush?

This is the 6 cylinder. The top of the engine is floating in oil between the twin cams, but the spark plug holes were dry. With a dead battery we didn't do a compression test. I was tempted to offer $200 and haul it away just for grins.....right up until I pictured my wife when she saw it in the driveway.
If I had a place to store/work on it I would have it just for laughs.

The 5MGE was more reliable than the later 7MGE, but I'd still suspect a headgasket based on the 7M problems.
