OFFICIAL RELEASE FROM YOUR RALLY VP!
HELLO ALL!
This year was fun for the rallycross program but I wouldn't call it a complete success.
Entries are down since years past, and it seems interest is also declining.

In order to keep our program alive and running I want to propose a few ideas...

1. 4 events... maybe 1 more but we'll see.

2. Only run at wilson, unless we get OCS back. BMW farm is okay but it think the land is a deterrent for some people, its to HARD on the car

3. charge $40 ... 30 for prepay'ers... we need more money, we lost money at every event but 1 this year.

4. NEW CLASSES : Rally Car / 4-wheel drive / 2-wheel drive
RALLY CAR is ANY car with rally tires. 2 or 4 wheel drive.
THE other two classes are for street tires...

Any other Ideas are encouraged and help is always needed!! THANKS!!!

-sebastian

Serious question: can a 2wd car with rally tires really be as fast as an AWD car with rally tires?

I run street tires, so it doesn't affect me, but it might turn off the 2wd rally tire people if they know they can't win.

Or is this just for run groups?

I would guess the two would be seperate with hp / displacement no longer being a factor in classing.

$40 should equal 8 timed runs IMHO.

When you drag your butt to an event you will get 8 timed runs.... but only 6 will count.
We are limited to 6 by the club software, but we usually have 2 "reconnaissance runs (one in the AM, one in the PM). The first morning run is tossed out as is the first afternoon run.
See, 8 timed runs just as Steve has requested....we listen, Steve

I think what he is proposing is 4 classes, if I am reading it right.

2wd rally tires
4wd rally tires
2wd skreet tires
4wd skreet tires

I hate recon runs. They are always cleaner and faster, and they don't count. If you have to drop two, drop the slow ones.

Yes
But I do agree, that would turn off some people.

AH. I see.

AWD Rally, AWD street, 2WD rally and 2WD street.

That makes sense.

steve, you need to rallycross dammit. Your antics are being noticed. we may be running the mitsubishi at wilson... simply because with no 2wd car of our own right now, the sentra is dead right now.. we may need something else to run.My father plans to be there.. as do i. runs need people, we need people to work the course.. the more the better. not enough people mean we cant do anything.. I did not see steve at the autocross in fayetteville either. so there is that.

Yep. Next year I'll be running in a new class: 2WD street tire to start.

Lots of work between then and now, and I've never seen the kind of car I bought at any of our events. I expect to be hilariously noncompetitive.

Wonder who that was? I'm trying to envision a vehicle more horrendously uncompetitive than a Mustang at Rallycross and trying a blank.
